Overhead Doors Pee Wee. Bs win home tournament % The Scugog Overhead Doors ee Wee B team hosted a tour- nament on Tuesday, Dec. 29 and battled hard for three unde- feated games to win it all. Game one saw action be- tween Whitby and the Doors and our guys came out flying scoring three big goals in the first period leaving the opposi- tion in a daze. However, the Doorsmen obviously felt this game would be a push over and settled in to second gear in the second period and guess what -- -- you are right! Whitby came out looking much stronger and scored three goals themselves VERIEAD Cor CO pom AF a) The Scugog Overhead Doors Peewee B team were vi on Tuesday, Dec. 29, beating the Brooklin-Whitby team 11 bers and coaching staff are (front, from left) Glenn McCre Shane Savage, Justin Halligan, Nick Skerratt, Ryan Moynes, Dave Bentley, Adam Hobbs, Ashley Van Schelven full with these guys but were not about to give a single inch. They matched hit for hit, rush for rush and came up with two goals in the second, both by Aa- ron Levy with assists going to Edwards (one), McCready (one) and Puckrin (one). Levy's two- goal show was matched by their opposition ending the period 2- 2 Period three proved to be the most exciting action of the day with both teams ending in a well deserved tie 2-2 and was all Port needed to advance them into the A championship game against Whitby, the team they ady, (two), Halligan (one), Gainey (one), Levy (one), Van Shelven (one), Tindall (one), and Sker- ratt (one). Congratulations to the Doors for the "A" Championship win and to Aaron Levy for a big ef- fort in all three games winning the M.V.P. award. Special mention also goes to Jeremy Gibson and Ryan Puck- rin for the outstanding effort they too displayed. A very big team effort to the players and coaching staff and a pretty darn nice Christmas present to all us parents. See you in 1993---have a great New Year. The good guys scored another, ending the game with a big first win of 5-4. Goals were scored by Jeremy Gibson (three goals) and Ryan Puckrin (two goals), with as- pists going to Gibson (one), Puckrin (two), Halligan (two), Van Shelven (one), Skerratt (one), McCready (one) and Hobbs (one) | A great effort by krin and Gibson. Fame two had the Doors matched up well with a strong team Chinguacousy (a Bramp- ton area team) and the Port men learned a whole new lesson in what hooking and high stick- ing is really about ---- hopefully a lesson they will not remem- ber. The entire first period saw great action back an forth with goalie Shane Savage coming up with his usual big stops only to be matched by his opposing der. Be Doors had their hands had beaten earlier. The championship game be- tween the Doors and Whitby should have been a good match- up but the Doors came out onto the ice fired up and determina- tion was written all over each player's face. Unfortunately for Whitby, these guys decided it was time to play the kind of hockey they are capable of play- ing...winning hockey. T rough the entire first half of the season they have battled and lost numerous games by a margin of one or two goals when they should have won. This tournament was their chance to end 1992 as winners and that they did. Port showed no mercy as they peppered 11 goals past two Whitby goalies with Shane Sav- age barracading the net allow- ing only three goals. Aaron Levy led the attack with three als with others going to Ryan uckrin (two), Chris Jamieson (two), Hobbs (one), Halligan (one), Van Shelven (one) and McCready (one). Pineridge Atoms claim consolation at tourney On Dec. 30 the Atom Mini- Mo's took part in the one-day tournament held at the Scugog Arena, and came away with an overtime victory against Ban- croft to take the consolation championship. During their second game against Ajax, it didn't take the Moni-Mo's long to get on the board as they were awarded a penalty shot in the first minute. Wade made no mistake deaking the goalie to give Port the lead. With the score at 2-1 for Ajax, Scott Cunningham tied the game up with Bob Cowie earn- ing the assist. The defence teams of Sean Jeffrey and Grant Hooker, and Joel Thomson and Mike Dalby helped goalie Chris Thompson hold Ajax off the scoreboard for two shut out periods until the team eventually took the lead. Eric Wygerde spoiled a couple of Ajax's offensive opportunities by excellent backchecking. Joey and Grant provided passes to Steve, as he netted the winner with only 38 seconds left in the game. Steve earned the M.V.P. award for his efforts. In the consolation champion- ship game Port Perry faced off against Bancroft and kept eve- ryone on the edge of their seats, before ending the game in over- time to win 3-2. The Mini-Mo's forechecked hard and were rewarded often. Sean Jeffrey had an excellent end-to-end rash to open the scoring with an unassisted ef- fort.
