12- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, January 19, 1993 Annual Bowl For Millions The Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association of North Durham has pinned down a fun way to raise money for its organiza- tion. The association will once again be hosting its annual Bowl For Millions Bowl-a-thon. This year, the week-long fund- raiser will be held February 6- 13 at Centennial Lanes in Port Perry and the Uxbridge Bowl- ing Alley. A Celebrity Day Bowl will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13. Local businesses, service clubs, pro- fessional groups and schools are encouraged to form teams, col- lect pledges and participate in the fun event. Organizers are hoping to raise about $200 in pledges per team. Councillors from Scugog, Ux- bridge and Brock Townships participate in the Celebrity Day Bowl each year and try to bowl each other over in a bid for the covetted Champion Township trophy. This year, the council- lors will bowl at the Uxbridge lanesat 3 p.m. League bowlers are also wel- come to participate in the Bowl For Millions Bowl-a-thon by bowlirig on their regular league nights during the week of Feb- - ruary 6-13. Prizes are awarded to the in- dividuals who collect the most money in pledges. Prizes include a $1,000 gift certificate for furniture, a 10 cu- bic foot Woods freezer, a queen size quilt and pillow shams, and . agoose down duvet. Prizes have been donated by Homestead Furniture in Port Perry and K- Fab Products in Woodbridge. The top fundraiser will have first choice of the prizes. The Bowl For Millions event is the organization's major source of income for the year.
