"There is a whole pool of well-informed youth who are trying to work against the trend. Our study also found that teenagers have never been more informed in understand- ing global realities, and many of them want to have an impact on their world." Group activities help young people learn the im- portance of concern for others, and how they can make a differ- ence in combating poverty around the world. Allan McDonald, president of the Canadian Teachers' Federa- tion, has invited schools across the country, including 1.6 mil- lion students, to get involved in the 1993 30-Hour Famine.
