After some discussion con- cerning our annual meeting on April 1 it was decided to go out for lunch, prior to the meeting, with members to meet at noon. The nominating committee was able to report that the slate of officers for the ensuing year "has been completed. everal 'members expressed satisfaction over the presenta- tion of the fire proof cabinet, which we as an organization had recently presented to the Scugog Shores Museum, know- ing that it will serve a good pur- pose in protecting important documents which are stored there. The motto "True internation- alism is knowledge of other peo- ple, their'way of life, traditions Leh! and culture," was ably dealt with by the committee in charge, with a focus being placed on our educational sys- tem. Some of the negative as- pects were brought to our atten- . tion by Ardath Sisson, while Margaret Cheyne covered the ° more positive aspects. The pro- * gram convenor, Helen Dann then read excerpts from McLean's Magazine which had covered the topic extensively in a recent issue. We are aware of proposed changes in the educa- tional system, so will be watch- ing with interest. Following some discussion on this interesting topic, our meet- ing closed with the singing of "The Hymn of all Nations," af- ter which we enjoyed a beauti- ful lunch and social time, with a final reminder of our pre- meeting luncheon date on April Swing A Deal!
