The Cartwright High School will hold its Parent's Night on Wednesday, March 10 from 4-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. This is the op- portunity to meet your stu- dent's teacher and learn of progress being made. The March meeting of the Blackstock Agricultural Society will be held at the Rec Centre on this Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Congratulations to the C.H.S. Junior Concert Band for winning a gold medal at the re- cent Pickering Kiawanis Music Festival and to the Senior Wind Ensemble for placing second at the Sunderland Music Festival. Last week the Seniors Con- test Band enjoyed playing at the Seniors Dinner Date held at the Blackstock United Church. If any organization would be in- terested in having a live music presentation just call the high school. Mr. Beirness and his bands just love playing for an audience whatever gize. There were eight tables at the Tuesday evening euchre party with the following prize win- ners - Norman Rohrer, George Allison, Dorothy Archer, Ruby Cochrane, Faith Lawrence, Jean Porrill and Donald Linton. Lucky draws were won by Grant Bright, Pat Porrill, Ruby Cochrane and Vi Linton. The t luck dinner was held on uesday, March 2 not this week as 5 reported previously - sorry for the error. Several from this area were among the huge crowd on Sat- urday evening to show appreci- ation to Carm Hamilton who is retiring from his position as Vic- toria County Ag Rep which he has held for 16 years. Michelle Morton Heartiest congratulations are extended to two of our young people who did very well in the Legion Zone Public Speaking Contest held in Bow- manville on Sunday afternoon. Brandi McLaughlin placed first in her class with her speech "Taking My Piano Exam" while Michelle Morton placed first in the High School Section with her speech "Small Town Com- forts in a Big-City World." Both of these girls will advance to the District Legion Contest which will be held in Hastings in early April. Best wishes to Brandi and Michelle in the next level. On Sunday afternoon Lois and Harold Luke visited friends Mrs. R. Kellington and Mrs. Ha- zel Campbell in Oshawa. Ten local couples took part in a Marriage Enrichment course held at the United Church con- ducted by Rev. Dale and Anita Davis.
