Greenbank News by Helen McKean Our Women's Institute will have our March meeting at the home of Ray and Eunice Rahm on Wednesday 17th at 1:30. The Greenbank Euchre party is on Friday 19th in the Hall. This week we are helping to celebrate the first birthday of our granddaughter Carley, daughter of Mark and Donna McKean. Mr. and Mrs. Kronister enter- tained all the family on Sunday to help 'celebrate their son Frank's birthday and too it was also Frank's son's big day. What a happy occasion. Congratula- tions to both of you. I spoke to my daughter and son-in-law on Sunday in Prince Edward Island. They really got the bad storm, more than we did. The snow removers did not help, as they had 15 foot snow drifts. This was the very first time Gord had seen such heavy winds and deep snow. We were lucky here. "Music for Music" night is coming up on March 27th. This is an event we all can share and it is for the Organ Fund. Do come and enjoy the wonderful music. Our choir is ready to en- tertain all of us who love music. You can get your tickets from Jean Hunter at 985-7456 and Keith Bacon at 8562-6420. Mr. and Mrs. Willy Stone have returned from a visit to St. Petersburg, Fla. and enjoyed their time there. We hear it has not been too warm in Florida but now the news is terrible when the storm of the Century passed over Florida and East Coast. Maybe we will have more news next week when people have returned from their March Break. Please call me at 985- 2944. Reserve your tickets for supper on March 31 7 Scugog Island News by Mrs. Ec] Reader In December we thought weather was a good subject for conversation and didn't feel it could be surpassed in March. But this is one March school break that won't be forgotten for years. Last summer it was rain so we figure this spring has tobe ahappy one. Do you have a craft toshow or sell? When Florence Nightingale was sailing to the Crimea with her first batch of volunteer nurses, the girls were talking excitedly about the adventure on which they were embarking. But Florence Nightingale had another angle to put to them. "Young women," she said, "the strongest will be wanted at the washtub!" Not much adventure about that! But do we forget that sometimes the important part we have to play as we under- take what the poet George Her- bert called the daily x round, the trivial task?
