"A Family Tradition for 127 Years" 200 students perform in Oral Language Festival Sixteen area schools took part in the Area One Oral Language Festival held at Cartwright Central Public School on March 11. Students in Grades 4 through 10 from S. A Cawker, Uxbridge, Prince Albert, Sunderland, Scott Central, R.H. Cornish, Greenbank, Beaverton, Can- nington, HW. Knight, Joseph Gould, Thorah Central, Good- wood and Cartwright Central Public Schools and Brock and Cartwright High Schools made formal presentations and dra- matic presentations. The objectives of the festival are to encourage development and improvement of oral lan- guage in the existing language arts and English program; to provide opportunities for stu- dents to observe and compare a variety of formal oral language; to provide students with a unique forum outside the class- room in which to present their oral language accomplishments and to emphasize an exchange and sharing of experiences in- stead of competition. The students first performed their choice presentation in their individual school with sev- eral chosen from each to per- form at the Area 1 Festival. Close to 200 students took part in the festival, which is not a competition but a forum to dis- play talentin the arts. Let artist Dan Walsh draw you!
