Pearce Novice Auction action From Page 32 from 1 goal deficits to finish tied at two, after 30 minutes of play. Scoring for the Auctions team was Jeff Tarbotton from Mike Wiseman and centre Trevor Lance while Adam Moynes scored unassisted as his shot from the top of the circle trick- led through the goaler's pads. Defensively, Tim Jones guard- ed the crease enthusiastically to help Thomas but our squad as a whole weren't able to con- tain No. 9 of Port Hope as he registered the winning goal as part of his hat-trick. Thanks go out to parents, ex- ecutive members and Anna Spencley who helped make everything run smoothly as well as to Mojack players Jason Cochrane and Brett Puckrin who helped judge for the final game awards on behalf of "Mo- jacks". Season ending excitement for our Novice team will be at the Pepsi Invitational tournament in Buffalo! Good luck team! Monsma wins first game In broomball final Game one of the best of three final got underway this past Sunday with Monsma Electric emerging Victorious over Woody's Auctions by a 4-2 over- time tally. Regulation time saw the game knotted at one a piece as both teams scoring chances were kept to a minimum. Through the early part of the first period Woody's best oppor- tunity came on a two man breakaway that was thwarted in the goal crease by Jim Raa- phorst. They eventually did get one in that period that counted as Keith Young won the draw back to Charlie Dennis who put itin the top corner. Midway through the second they had the chance to add to that total as they were given the benefit of a two man advantage but to no avail as they were nev- er afforded any real good shots on goal. Monsma made the best of one of their two powerplays as Ken Lynde from the faceoff drew it to Chester Down whose initial shot was stopped by Rick Lees only to see the rebound knocked in by Greg Lepine stationed at the edge of the crease. With 1:12 left on the clock in the second, Woody's Neil Woo- drow bounced one off the post which was the closest either team came to salting it away be- fore O.T. In the total goal overtime pe- riod Woody's jumped out in front when Neil finally got one, with the assists going to Young and Jim Gregg. This was after Wayne Tate had the open net in front of him only to see his wrist shot go wide. This was short lived as from the ensuing faceoff at centre Nick Attwood flipped the ball ahead to Ken Lynde who in turn fired it in the vacant net from just inside the blue line. The third Monsma goal came from the broom of Chester Down as he put it past the Woody's de- fon ers from the left faceoff cir- cle. With 26 seconds left to play Nick Attwood was sent alone down the ice from his own side of centre only to have a thrown broom knock the ball off his stick. As per the FBAO rule re- garding this infraction he was given an awarded goal to round out the scoring. Game two of this series takes place again next Sunday at 5 p.m. Frank wins again The wake up call came late in the season for Frank Real Es- tate, but if the last two weeks are any indication, Frank has served notice that they are tak- ing a run at the Bantam House League Championship. Last week, they defeated Em- merson in a convincing come from behind victory. This week the opposition was 1.G.A., a team that has trounced them on several occasions. Falling be- hind early on a goal by Matt Grills, Frank rebounded quick- ly and often scoring eight unan- swered goals to coast to an 8-1 victory. Scoring in this game for Frank were Randy Pallach, Kent Johnson and John McCourt with two goals a piece, with singles going to Mark Dunn and Eric Lucyk. In addi- tion to his two goals, Kent John- ston also picked up three as- sists, Kent Jamieson added two, while singles went to Mark Dunn, Jason Brain, Jason Brown and Eric Lucyk. Assists on the lone 1.G.A. goal went to Dan McKay and Sean Gawley. Frank's opposition in next week's game will depend on the outcome of the Swamp Garage - Emmerson game to be played Saturday night. Lumbermen win Scugog Lumber of the Atom house league won game three of the playoffs against Laurentian Bank 6-1 on March 28. Steve Schewaga started the scoring for Scugog with a hard shot from the point with an as- sist to Tim Wray. Chris Med- ford with assists to Robbie Tay- lor and Jordan McKay got the second marker. Joel Phoenix scored the next three Lumber- men goals on good rushes up the ice. Ben Russell popped the fi- nal marker on a good shot out front with assists to Phoenix and Jericho Baron. Laurentian's lone goal was scored by Gord Kinear assisted by Jeff Harrison. Goalie Ken Lucas was busy in net and made some good saves despite the score. These two teams will meet April 3 in the championship game. Good luck to both clubs!
