With their play-off hopes vertually gone the Manvers Girls had nothing to lose and maybe they could play the role of the "Spoil- er". It didn't take long for Man- vers to crank up the heata notch when Linsey Ingram put a nice pass:up to the Manvers "Spark Plug" Julie Kennedy cruising outside the Bobcay- geon zone in over to Jennifer Dingman who broke in on the Bobcaygeon goal-tender and with a good hard fake fired one deep into the back of the goal to give Manvers the early lead 1-0. Right from the opening whis- tle the way the Manvers girls were passing the donut around you knew this game was going to be a complete team effort. At 11:25 the ever steady Leanne Morgan snatched the ring away from the Bobcaygeon forward at centre ice, over the Bobcaygeon blueline to Jennifer Dingman who hit Julie Kenne- dy in the slot and she fired one through a maze of legs to in- crease Manvers lead to 2-0. Manvers was playing short- handed at 9:14 when the Alley- cat Alison Chapman stole the ring in the Bobcaygeon zone, in the slot to Dingman and she tucked it under a sliding goal- tender to make the score 3-0 for Manvers. At 7:20 of the first period and Manvers in control, Krista Cameron intercepted a Bobcay- geon pass deep in Bobcaygeon Country in the slot to Linsey In- gram, over to Jennifer Dingman and "Say Good Night Ralph" it's 4-0 for Manvers. At 3:37 Bobcaygeon scored to reduce the score to 4-1. Ten sec- onds later Leanne Morgan cir- cled her own net and hit Hoppy Chapman at centre ice, over the Bobcaygeon blueline to Jennifer Chapman and she "Blasted" one past the surprised goalie. At 2:24 Bobcaygeon scored on the power play to make it a 5-2 game. With the period ticking away bcaygeon scored again to end period one with the score Man- vers 5 - Bobcaygeon 3. Both Tweens win 12-2 The Manvers Cagone Skate Sharpening Tweens hit the road for another out of town game, this time in Ennismore. Manvers took control right from the opening whistle with the ring being passed frequently amongst the Manvers team. At 11:32 Linsey Ingcom set up Jaime Bethune in front and she slammed one past the Ennis- more goalie to,go ahead. Krista Cameron intercepted an Ennis- more pass deep in the Ennis- more zone and put a nice pass over to Jennifer Dingman and it wasn't long before it was 2-0 for Manvers. Fourteen seconds lat- er Krista Cameron took control just outside the Ennismore zone over to Jennifer Dingman who had one of her "patented" rushes to make it 3-0. At 7:31 Kendra Clarke stripped the ring away from an Ennismore forward just outside the Ennis- more zone, over to Jen Ding- man, in front to Krista Came- ron and its "Party Time" as Manvers takes control of the game 4-0. Again Jen Dingman set up Krista Cameron in front and again it was High Fives All Around as Manvers enjoyed a 5- 0 lead. Krista Cameron blocked the ring at her own blueline at 1:41, up to Kendra Clarke at centre ice, in front to Alison Chapman who fired one past a screened goalie. At 1:19 Jaime Bethune blocked an Ennismore pass, up to Lisa Nesbit at the Ennismore blueline, in front to Jennifer Dingman and with a Dipsey Doodle Move beat the Ennis- more goalie cleanly. With nine seconds left in the opening peri- od Ennismore scored on the Manvers goalie to make the score 7-1. With the Manvers team play- ing steady ringette and the Manvers goalie playing steady goal, things were looking good for Manvers. At 10:63 Jennifer Dingman intercepted an Ennis- more pass and broke in on the Ennismore goalie and scored to make the score 8-1 for Manvers. At 4:17 Jaime Bethune hit Jennifer Dingman streaking over the Ennismore blueline and fired one high on the goalie to go ahead 9-1. With the sec- ond period ticking away, at 2:66 Julie Kennedy hit Lisa Nesbit in front and she tucked one un- der the Ennismore goalie to make the score 10-1 for Man- vers. At 1:39 Jen Dingman took control of the ring deep in the Ennismore zone and scored an unassisted goal to make the score 10-1. With just 11 ticks left on the clock Ennismore scored to end the game with Manvers on top 11-2. Playingin goal for Manvers was Michelle Branton. Honorable mention for good hustle goes to Krista Cameron and Julie Kennedy. Good de- fensive effort goeg to Jaime Be- Grade 2 and 3 students from Scugog Christian School put on thune and Leanne Morgan. Jennifer Dingman had six goals and two assists. Krista Came- ron had two goals and two as- sists. Next game is Thursday, April 1 in Manvers at 8 p.m., come on out and enjoy ringette at its best with Manvers host- ing Sunderland. a skipping performance for their parents and friends at the Port Perry Baptist Church Friday aftemoon. The students learned the various skipping routines in their physical education class. Scugog Island W.L. By Clara Dowson, P.R.O. Members of the Scugog Is- land Women's Institute met at the Island Community Hall on the evening of March 17. Jan Gerrow opened the meet- ing in her usual friendly way, and by singing the opening Ode and repeating the Institute Creed. Roll call was: Name one piece of equipment you carry in your car. Motto: Be prepared. Carol Fagel read the minutes and Betty Ann Freeman gave the treasurer's report. Everyone thanked Betty Ann and Betty Reader for conduct- ing the course on "Entertaining with a flair," so well. Everyone enjoyed the day - also the lunch- eon of the food made that day. Thanks girls, a job well done. Helen Redman reported on the District Meeting. By the way, Helen's phone has not been ringing off the wall - from you gardeners - who would like to spice up the looks of the grounds at the front of the hall. Penny Pettypiece convenor, of education and cultural activi- ties introduced the guest speak- er, Constable Judge from the Durham Regional Police - "How not to be a victim." It was a most interesting talk, many helpful things we all can try to protect ourselves, very informative. All enjoyed lunch of hot cross buns, cheese, jam and beverage. "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" teams' goalies were playing well. Manvers came out flying in period two with Jaime Bethune putting a nice pass over to Ken- dra Clarke racing up the left boards just outside the Bobcay- geon zone, over to Jen Dingman who torpedoed one past the Bobcaygeon goalie to make the score 6-3. Bobcaygeon came right back with a goal of their own to close the gap to 6-4. At 9:51 Jaime Bethune took control in the Bobcaygeon zone, over to Julie Kennedy in the corner, out in front to Lisa Nes- bit who lams it into the corner for a 7-4 Manvers lead. Julie Kennedy, always on the prowl stole the ring in the Bobcay- geon zone, up to Linsey Ingram in the curve, over to Lisa Nesbit in the slot and the rest is Histo- ry, she's 8-4. With both goalies playing well it was hard for the offence to get much going. The Manvers defence was playing very well. All the de- fence were protecting their Roo- kie Goalie well. Leanne Mor- gan, Miranda Small, Jaime Bethune, and Linsey Ingram (Good Defence Girls). 'Manvers Tweens defeat Bobcaygeon 11-4 At 7:43, Alison Chapman took control of the ring deep in Bobcaygeon territory over to Jaimie Bethune at the side of the net and "she scores". With the second period ticking away Jen Dingman hit Julie Kenne- dy in the slot over to Amanda Richmond who made the mesh bulge on a hard shot from be- side the net. At 2:13 Jaime Bethune put it up to Lisa Nesbit deep in the Bobcaygeon zone and she tucks one under the sliding goalie to make the final score 11-4 for Manvers. With good team spirit Man- vers played a good team game. Jen Dingman ad 5 goals and Lisa Nesbit had a Hat Trick. Playing in goal for Manvers was Michele Branton.
