Delegate registration was held on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning while the ex- ecutive met Friday afternoon. A wine and cheese party was held on Friday evening with mem- bers of Port Perry Minor Soft- ball doing the serving and enter- tainment provided by the Travelling Wilbur's of Port Perry. Workshops on Saturday morning dealt with Drugs and Sport, hosted by the York Re- gional Police; age change and coaching certification and What's Your Beef? The annual meeting an elec- tion of officers was held on Sat- urday afternoon with a near record number of 198 voting del- egates taking part. There were a total of four amendments dealt with and of those 29 were carried, five defeated and 10 withdrawn. The amendments that were carried having the most local impact were those dealing with - the age change and coaching certificate. The age change will apply only to the classification ~ of Junior, Juvenile and Midget which are raised one year in 1993 and Junior and Juvenile which are raised one year in 1994. Mandatory coaching cer- tification was passed which will require all teams entering into Elimination Tournament to have one Level 1 coach in 1994. In 1995 all O.A.S.A. affiliated teams will require one fully cer- tified Level 1 coach. In 1996 all teams entering Elimination Tournament must have a Level 2 coach and in 1997 all teams af- filiating must have a Level 2 coach. The election results are as fol- lows: President Al Harrison, Wingham; 1st vice-president Hub Fehrman, Caledonia: 2nd vice-president Kevin Walker, Oshawa; 3rd vice-president Doug Bach, Seaforth, Secretary Bill Topping, St. Thomas; Treasurer Bob Abbot, Uxbridge; Auditors Wilf Garrett and John Pyndyk. The Executive Council will be made up of Ted Ahara, Wingham, Doug Eidt, Sebring- ville, Peter Freamo, Ottawa, Bill Martin, Simcoe, Bea Weber, Guelph, Bob Whitfield, Bath. The local softball community was well represented at this meeting with the attendance of O.A.S.A. Past President Vin Walker and his wife, O.A.S.A. Past President Jack Cook and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Venning, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Kay, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Dalton, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Best, Craig and Chad Venning and Rodd Foster of Greenbank. YMCA floor hockey Junior The Canadiens came out on top in Monday's YMCA Junior floor hockey action. Mark Mor- rison earned a hat trick for the Canadiens with Reid Harris, Tyler Houthuys and Lakelan Gould each adding a single. Ryan O'Leary added his two to bring the Canadiens score to 8. Emma Marshall fired in two for the Leafs with Nicholas Murphy, Justin Koury and Da- vid Halward each adding sin- gles. Intermediate The Blue Bombers took on the Red Wings in Intermediate floor hockey action on Monday, April 5. In a fast-paced game the Red Wings took the game 10-8. Matthew MacMaster had a banner night with four goals for the Red Wings. John Barton was also hot with a hat trick. In the second intermediate game of the evening the Mighty Ducks edged out the Golden Rods in a score of 7-5. Chris Murphy fired in two for the Golden Rods with Ryan Ap- pleton adding a single and Chris Langford and Greg Langford adding two more. Steven Doan scored a hat trick for the Mighty Ducks with Jason Cruikshank and Eric Bird adding singles and Evan Bertrand firingin a double. More than 2,000 spectators enjoyed the show at Scugog Aréna. : 5 : The rink of Ted Griffen, Rodd Foster, Bill Cornish and Garnet Warriner won the annual Beare Motors Bonspiel. Two local boys Ken Wilson and Brent Richardson went deep sea fishing in Florida. While out on the water Ken hooked a 40- pound ground shark. A Meet the Champs day was held at Scu- gog Arena where local teams who were de- feated in playoffs got together for a game of hockey. 20 YEARS AGO WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11, 1973 The Port Perry High School girls curling team captured the gold at COSSA. Team members were Shelley Olsen, skip, Donna Beare, second, Jane-Anne Stone, lead and Sue-ann deHaas, vice. The Grieve's Gulf Juveniles split the open- ing two games of their All-Ontario finals with Lambeth. In the first match the team won an exciting 8-7 decision. Cal Cochrane had five goals for Port, while Bill Jeffery and Gary Le- Fort each added a single. The team lost the second game 8-4. Cochrane, Jeffery, Bronson and Dave Jackson each had a goal in the game. The rink of Austie and Irene Baker and Chuck and Marjorie Preston won the annual Brooklin Concrete bonspiel. 15 YEARS AGO WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 1978 The Peewee Legionnaires ended their sea- son at the Uxbridge tournament. poy In the local house league finals Frank Real Estate won the Peewee championship. More than 200 curlers took part in the end of year wind-up bash. 10 YEARS AGO WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 1983 The Port Perry Belles and Tweens won the gold medal at the Port Perry ringette tourna- ment. The Juniors settled for the silver.
