There's beauty all around us to see and touch and hear, so no matter how downhearted we may be, the glory of springtime is a spe- cial time to all. But there are many different points of view, a child sees it best from the mid- dle of a mud puddle! Nestleton Presbyterian Church Palm Sunday service was held with Rev. Wm. Fairley in charge with Joyce Taylor at the piano. Responsive reading was Psalm 31 - "In my Lord will I put my trust." Scripture readings were from Isaiah 50: 4-9 and Matthew 26: 14-30, Judas Iscar- iot's betrayal. The message for Passion week was the only way to escape the net of evil and vio- lence, etc. - is to put our trust in the word of God who is in abso- lute control of life. Sacrament of Holy Communion this coming Sunday. Caesarea News Park News - second of two parts. Last year on our short street two people in their 80s and fi- nancially comfortable sold their homes due to illness. These houses were purchased by young couples in their late 208 or early 30s. My, what a con- trast! The elderly with the memories of the past had little to look forward to - and are liv- ing one day at a time. The pur- chasers with their adventure down the road of life hold the great challenge of the future be- fore them. Their children, the schools, the Scout movement, church, work, mortgage, taxes, and with the improvement to their home... they have to watch how they spend every dollar for some time. At the present time in the park, we have only one set of swings for this changing age group to play on, and this is why we must purchase this equip- ment right away. This week we are putting up a thermometer, lettered by our renovation con- tractor, Charlie Taylor, show- ing our funds growth. 90th Birthday Celebrated Mrs. Grace Jackson of Cae- sarea was honoured with a very delightful party on her 90th birthday. The festivities were- held in the Nestleton United Church Sunday School room with well over 120 relatives and friends present to wish her the best. Grace received many beautiful gifts and a shower of cards given in honour of this special occasion. She has reached a new plateau in her in- teresting life. Happy Birthday was sung. The food was out of this world... sandwiches, relishes, and many goodies topped off with birthday cake, coffee or tea. Daughter-in-law Shirley Jackson arranged the lovely party with assistance of family members. Very best wishes to Grace for continued health from this area. Good Friday Service The Good Friday Service hosted by Nestleton United Church for the Blackstock Charge with Rev. Dale Davis conducting the service was very impresssive marked by solemn reverence. Readings by various members from Blackstock and Nestleton Church congrega- tions, interspersed by choral re- sponses and choir anthems made for a very meaningful Good Friday Service. It was great to hear the men's voices from Blackstock. Organist Kar- en Yellowlees and pianist Linda Kyte were super! Nestleton United Easter Service On a beautiful spring morn- ing, April 11, greeters at the door were Linda Arbuckle and daughters. Many worshippers were on hand for this special Easter celebration. The service opened with the Processional hymn "Christ the Lord is Risen To-day" with Rev. Dale Davis conducting the service and Kar- en Yellowlees at the organ. The Christ Candle was lit by Linda Arbuckle and daughter. The Youth choir sang "Mary Laid Her Baby Down" with Ka- tie and Steven Mairs providing the music. The Sunday School sang "Journey" with Joanna Malcolm leading and Katie on the piano. Senior choir sang a novelty number "Hosanna" with Karen at the organ. All the musical numbers were excel- lent. Rev. D. Davis led an inter- esting as well as educational children's theme, and his mes- sage for the congregation for Easter "Roll Away The Stone" was most fitting. Service closed by singing The Lord's Prayer and hymn "Thine Is The Glory," Benediction and three fold amen. The lovely flowers added much to the ser- vice. Easter News Alan and Eleanor Cawker of Oshawa, hosted the family Easter celebration with 23 present for the delicious, boun- tiful turkey dinner. Those present were Andy and Anne Cawker and family, Michael Cawker, Dan and Lea Kitchen and family, Scott and Joanne Cawker and family, Mark and Cindy Cawker and family, An- drew and Christie Birnie, Ma- bel Cawker, and the host and hostess, Alan and Eleanor. Keith and Rhonda Bannister of Peterborough and children Christa and Amberlee were guests with grandma Neta Fish over the weekend. So nice to see them and an interesting visit was enjoyed. Happy Belated Birthday A belated Happy Birthday to Cliff Davis, who celebrated on April 6 in style. Best wishes to a great neighbour for many more exciting years! I deeply regret forgetting the day! Caesarea News Park Bottle Drive Day! This Saturday is bottle drive day for the park equipment fund. If you are going out, please leave them on your front steps. Pop and beer bottles, and the beer cans. Thank you. Easter news for next week, please! Nestleton Presbyterian Church Easter Sunday Service was conducted by Rev. Wm. Fairley at 11 a.m. The church was deco- rated with beautiful Easter lil- ies and spring flowers, and Joyce Taylor played the tradi- tional hymns of Easter. Psalm 118 was read in uni- son, and Scripture readings were from Jeremiah and John. The message in the children's sermon was that God's love is everywhere. In the sermon Rev. Fairley spoke of the presence of God's love in our lives. Holy Commun- ion was dispensed with Dorothy McCabe, Dorothy Lee and Rus- sell Brown, church elders as- sisting the minister. The congregation received the happy news that Rita (Mrs. Fairley) had her operation this week, and is recovering nicely in Grace Hospital, Toronto. Do your spring cleaning early!
