Now it comes time to build the extension, not exactly what we thought it was going to be when we made our pledges, but what the ministry in its own widsom says it must be for our own good, and local business that could have benefitted from ~ construction work it will create, cannot participate. Their hard earned dollars that contributed to this expansion will be used to pay the "unionized" out of town contractors, who will do the work, get paid with our locally collected dollars and then pull up stakes and leave town. We are sure there will be many good reasons given for this exclusion of local business, such as having fair wage prac- tices, level playing fields, the ministry insists it be this way and a legion of other reasons why things are done this way. But should not the hospital and Foundation Boards (which are filled by upstanding local busi- < ORT PERRY auto glass &* trim wd. ness and other civic minded in- dividuals) review this situation which at best seems unfair. I am sure this exclusion is an oversight by the Hospital Foun- dation and board with all the decisions and difficult issues they have to address to get the, for future expansion going. Hopefully, something will be done in fu- ture to 'insure local business participate in future expansion other than just helping put up the money.
