"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Bowl for Millions By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star ~ Bowl for Millions raised $10,000 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Durham this year. : The annual event, which took place in February, both in Port Perry and Uxbridge, is the or- ganization's major fundraiser of the year. Individual awards were pre- sented on Saturday, May 1, to the four bowlers who raised the most money for the organiza- tion through sponsorship. - First prize, a $1,000 gift cer- tificate for Homestead Furni- ture and Appliances, was pre- sented to Jack Randall of Uxbridge, who raised close to $900 for the cause. Betty War- ner of Brooklin won a goose down duvet, courtesy of K-Fab Industries of Woodbridge, for raising $802, the second highest amount. Bill White, of Port Perry was third, raising $550. He received a 10 cubic-foot Woods freezer, courtesy of Homestead and fourth prize was a queen size quilt and pil- low shams, also from Home- stead, won by Keith Noble of Ux- 5 , who raised more than 300. The youth prize went to Leon Morrow of Port. Perry. The names of youngsters who raised more than $50 were put into a hat and Leon's name was drawn. He was presented with a bicycle by representatives of Big Drohersiie Sisters on Satur- ay. RRR Several businesses from Scu- gog and Uxbridge got involved in the event, as many entered - teams in the February 13 bowl- ing fundraiser. Trophy winners from Celebri- ty Day were awarded to the Port Perry Bank of Montreal, Port Perry Rotary Club; Ridge North Realty, Port Perry Dental Offic- -es, Brooklin Veterinarian Ser- vices and Port Perry IGA. Plaques were presented to - Homestead, The Stables at Greystone, Pizza Delight, Port Perry Royal Bank, Old Port Marketing and K-Fab Indus- tries.
