Intermediate The first Intermediate game on Monday, April 26 saw the Mighty Ducks meet the Red Wings. It was the Mighty Ducks over the Red Wings by a score of 8-71n a very exciting game. The Mighty Ducks took an early lead outscoring the Red Wings 6-0 in the first period. Evan Bertrand racked up a hat trick with Eric Bird, Steven Doan and Ryan Jansen adding singles. The second period saw the Red Wings fight back to stay in the game. John Barton put the Wings on the scoreboard with a single and Matthew MacMaster and Darryl Dalton adding one each. Chris Murphy fired in the Golden Rod's tying goal. + Eight team loop Gamblers start season May 13 Thursday, May 13 at 8 p.m. will see the 1993 fastball season get underway in Greenbank Park when the Gamblers will host the Oshawa Double "B" Sports Club. Greenbank is back in the Oshawa City and District "A" League this year and the eight team loop will see Port Perry Eagles, Oshawa O'Tooles, Stouffville, Oshawa Weasels, Bowmanville, Port Perry Mer- chants, Oshawa Double "B" and the Greenbank Gamblers bat- tling for the league champion- ship. With the Junior age limit now raised to under 23, the Junior Teams will be much stronger and the intermediate clubs will not have graduating Juniors to bolster their rosters for this year and next. The eight team Oshawa League will be ex- tremely competitive and well balanced. The Gamblers will be at home in Greenbank Park on Thurs- day nights with game time at 8 p.m., to provide you with excel- lent fastball entertainment. Women's teams needed for annual softball tourney The Durham Lakeshore Women's Fastball League is gear- ing up for its annual Invitational Softball Tournament to be held June 18-20 at Iroquois Parkin Whitby. Organizers are aiming for 16 teams to take part in the tour- arantees each team three games. The top 12 teams will be divided into A, B and C divisions according to Cash awards will be presented to winning teams and run- ners-up in each division. The breakdown is'as follows.
