The tree was donated by South Port Gardens and was transplanted by McMil- len Tree Farms. A plaque symbolizing the memorium will be placed in the school. Borelians group to stage variety show fundraiser It's a busy time for the Bore- lians Theatre group of Port Perry. Just when its members were about to wind down its season with last minute busi- ness, a major win at the recent ACT-CO festival (best presenta- tion of a drama) caused them to swing into high gear once again. As it was the play chosen to represent Central Ontario in the province-wide theatre On- tario festival, the cast and crew of "Night of January 16th" are literally scrambling in order to reproduce the play in Peterbo- rough. "It is no easy feat," declares producer/director. Dave Ellis who must juggle the schedules of approximately 30 people and plan sudden rehearsals, pro- duction meetings and trips to Peterborough within the next two weeks in order to restore this play. "But the honor of be- ing chosen is worth the hard work and aggravation." Meanwhile, other Borelian members are in the midst of planning a one-night variety show "That's Entertainment '93." Oniginally intended as a general year-end wind-up and fundraiser, it has now become the vehicle which will hopefully offset the costs of restaging "Night of January 16th." "But this show is not merely a means to an end," say producers Kellea Passmore and Bunty Webb. "This is a high calibre show with top notch performers - some well known locally, some not. 00 .0.6.06.0.0000060000000000 LAA LALA AD Don't Miss the PORT PERRY OME SHOW May 14 to 16 at the : Port Perry Arena. : ~ Free Admission ~ : ~ Free Parking ~ AR AR AAAAAAAAAALA SSAA ANAS AS AAAS AN [A A 08884 aa assssassssssssss ss asa al Though they wouldn't give away any names (to keep the show a surprise), they did say that all the singers, dancers, ac- tors and musicians are from the Durham area. "The show was created in the spirit of the old variety shows of the 50s and 60s and will include a real interesting assortment of performances," explains Ms. Passmore. She guarantees the audience will leave feeling uplifted.
