PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, May 11,1993 - 18 Spring: Every sweet bud un- folding, every green leaf un- furled..For the joy of man's be- holding..In God's most wonderful world. The Smorgasbord held at Nestleton Community Centre on Friday, May 7 was a success- ful venture with pretty well a sell out. Our minister Dale Da- vis opened with Grace. Our con- gratulations to the Nestleton U.C.W. and a sincere thank you to those who purchased tickets for the meal. It is very much ap- preciated. We trust mothers everywhere had a marvellous day on Sun- day with their family members present, with phone calls from those far away. Just a great day for Mom in every way! Yours truly and neighbour Chris Davis of Scugog Point Road, spent a delightful day with Don and Helen Hadden at their beautiful farm home near Sunderland. The luncheon served at the noon hour was de- licious, and after we had an in- teresting tour of their farms - 500 acres of workable land. What a busy, happy, full life Mayor Don and wife Helen have! Our thanks to them for a very enjoyable day! Anne Emerson of Nestleton hosted her nursing class at her beautiful farm home for the weekend - eight altogether - the 30th reunion from Women's College Hospital. On Monday, they were guests of the Alum- nae for dinner. A special event! A time of nostalgia for all! Son Ian Emerson of New- foundland visited his parents Edgar and Anne over the week- end at Nestleton. The students are now home from University and we trust they will find work, have a fine holiday, and return in the fall anxious to continue studying in their chosen field re: education! Best wishes students! The annual Cancer drive for funds re: the Township of Scu- gog was completed April 30. To the many captains and canvass- ers who worked hard during the Campaign, our warmest ap- preciation. Also, to the folks who gave generously to the cause - sincere thanks. Can- vassers get your kits in as soon as possible, so that our busy Campaign chairperson Doris Taylor may tabulate the kits in record time. Sorry to hear of the passing of Margaret Carnegie - a past ma- tron of Blue Ray Chapter in Port Perry. Our deepest sympa- thy to husband Gord and the family. Lloyd Wylie of Lindsay, a cousin of Neta Fish, Cadmus, had dinner with her on Tues- day, and they had an enjoyable visit reminiscing of days gone by.
