Created in the winter of 1993 by John Uprichard and Mark Rowland, the junior golf tour is designed to capture the golfer's imagination, shesura e them to work at their game and mostim- portantly keep them working on it. There is a junior tour (Accu- form) located in Hamilton/ Wentworth, which the duo con- tacted and decided it was time the Durham Region area had its own tour. The two men, with the help of Oshawa Golf Club professional Tim McKeiver, approached a number of golf pros around the region and response was en- couraging. An organizing group of PGA professionals including Jerry Nemish of Lakeridge Golf Club, Bruce Welsh, of Oakridge Golf Club, Graham Gunn of Dale- wood Golf Club, Dan Lally of Fawnbrooke Golf Club and Tim McKeiver met to share ideas. At an inagural meeting in March the group decided to proceed with the tour, which will be a seven -event tour with a qualify- ing round. he four was made possible through the co-operation of the golf professionals 'and the par- ticipating golf clubs, which will offer two hours of starting times free of charge, The tour will begin with the qualifying tound at Dalewood Golf Club on Saturday, June 26, beginning at noon. One hun- dred golfers will be involved in this round. The top 60 golfers from this will qualify for the seven-event tour.
