Tuesday night in Stouffville Jim Chilvers started on the mound for Greenbank and in the two innings he pitched, he struck out five batters but sur- rendered a home run to Byron Baranieski, To offset the Stouff: ville homer, Chilvers connected for a home run of his own to knot the score at 1-1. Mark Goreski took over the pitching duties for the Gam- blots and held Stouffville to a whl e run in the sixth inning, ile his teammates collected a pair of runs:and took home a close 3-2 win, Greenbank scored two runs when Peter Oosterholt led off with a single and scored on Ter- ry Tills three bagger. Till him- self scored on an infield hit by Brian Till. Other Gambler hity went to Mike Giroux, Trevor Till and Bill Buys, Goreski struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to pre- serve the Greenbank win. The next night in Greenbank Park Mark Goreski faced the Oshawa Juniors and this time Jason Swift and Phil. Yahn teamed up to stop the Gamblers by a 5-3 score. The Gambler hits went to Mike Giroux, Bill Bu 8, Jim Chilvers, Mark Goreski, and Terry Till but Greenbank stranded nine base runners during the game which proved 'tobe their downfall Jason Rideout and: Hubert Bassillio led the Oshawa attack with two hits each while Dave Bacon and Terry Till made fine outfield catches for Greenbank. Greenbank has 13 players born between 1980 and 1982. Both teams played excel- lent baseball even though they only had one practice. Perfect Heating : managed to come up with the win. See story for detalls, £5 First ever Rowing Regatta attracts 86 athletes to the lake The first Scugog Invitational Rowing Rogatta for high school crews was held in Port Perry on Sunday. The event was hosted by the Durham Rowing Club and attracted a total of eighty- six athletes competing in seven events. The crews, who attend high schools in Port Perry, Oshawa, Port Hope, Brace- bridge and Sudbury found the 1000 m course quite challeng- ing, due to a strong cross wind over the first half of the race.
