Walter Campbell paints Port Perry Cochrane By Julia Dempsey Port Perry Star A Port Perry home is the sub- Ject of Walter Campbell's most recent watercolor painting. Mr. Campbell, a Sonya resi- dent, first noticed the Cochrane Street home about three years ago while visiting a friend who had just moved into a home across the street fromit. "I like the setting," he said of the home presently owned by Brian Callery and formerly owned by Dr. Matthew Dy- mond. He took some reference shots of the home in the autumn but never did anything more on the project until this year. The reason behind the delay stems from the fact that Mr. Campbell likes to incorporate a nostalgic theme into each Victo- rian home he paints. Until re- cently, he wasn't sure what theme he wanted to match with the home. St. home But after completing a water- color entitled "Morning Hunt" last year, Mr. Campbell decided he would like "to do a few more huntscenes." The fall colors in the refer- ence shots of the Cochrane' Street home made it the perfect choice for his next hunt scene, he says. ~ "The colors and the house lent itself very well to the theme," Mr. Campbell says. He also explained that in England it was very fashionable to have the participants of a hunt pictured in front of their homes. He has tied that facet of history into his latest work. "Autumn Hunt" was released three weeks ago and is the 44th limited edition print released by 41-year-old artist in the last 10 years.
