We scan the Scugog Pastoral Charge Church bulletin and find it an item of beauty in de- tail, in announcements, dainty sketches and proof of organiza- tion and co-operation also a re- minder of future activity. We owe much to the people who plan and print this bulletin. The "Grace" U.C.W. will meet June 2 at 8 p.m. at the Island Church. At 6:30 p.m. of the same day the members of the "Head" U.C.W. through the past 45 years will meet at the Community Hall for a five year celebration with dinner and re- newed friendship. Each occa- sion of this nature becomes more rewarding. Everyone will want to visit the hall June 12 - 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for "Scugog Island on Sale" sponsored by "Grace" U.C.W. when anyone may rent a table for their sale products. At night there will be another of those pot luck dinners at 6 p-m. for anyone bringing food and their own dishes and per- haps wrapped gifts for bingo prizes to be used in the bingo games. You must not miss the Fa- ther's Day Service when there may be baptism and certainly a men's choir, June 20. - As strawberries grow. and ri- a A ¥ } E ">, Sd i NO \: 2 2 a 000 OVER in Cars {Tucks , to choose from! De- scendants of the early pioneers and Island residents are very grateful to know that the early efforts are being remembered through the interest and appre- ciation of present residents in raising money through plans, meetings, ,etc. Myr race Love is home after *Scugog Island on sale" June 12 a month's visit in the West in Vancouver, Edmonton and Ve- gas with her brother and wife and a former girl (?) friend. Grace's daughter Barbara, does some supply teaching and tries to get used to modern times. Mr. and Mrs. Allin Martyn did not go! south this past winter and had a chance to see an old fashioned winter again, but had no difficulty getting out. A re- cent trip to Ottawa was quite in- teresting. Local Artist Clint Jammer's plece entitled Rock Legend is the grand prize for Canoe the Nonquon coming up this weekend. Each participant will be given one ballot for the draw for the print for each $25 raised.through pledges. Pianist at church Russian-born pianist Serguei Pavlov will be performing at the Port Perry United Church on Thursday, June 10. The recital will be an encore performance for Mr. Pavlov who played at the church earlier this year. Born just outside Moscow in 1955, he graduated with honors from the Moscow Conservatory, majoring as a concert pianist and accompanist. From 1980-85 he provided the piano accompaniment for the Russian and Soviet National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team. For the next five years, he was a concert pianist and piano ac- companist for "Mosconcert" in Moscow. . Mr. Pavlov came to North America in 1990 to perform with ballet theatre "Moscow- NewYork" under the direction of Yuli Zorow. The theatre com- pany toured both Canada and the United States. But Mr. Pavlov was stranded here after the ballet theatre folded due to financial prob- lems. He decided to stay in Can- ada instead of returning to Rus- sia and has recently received his working permit. The concert of light classical music at the United Church will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for youth (18 and under), or $20 per family. Tickets will be avail- able at the door. An informal reception will fol- low the performance.
