Grade 12 student Bill Sandi- ford won the gold medal in the senior engineering division. His project on computer controlled lighting systems was also named top project at the fair. The event was held Wednes- day, May 26 at the Durham Board of Education Resource Centre in Whitby. Bill also competed in the Ca- nadian Science Fair held in Quebec in mid-May after quali- fying for the fair at the regional level. Unfortunately, his project was damaged in the baggage de- partment en route to the compe- tition. Since he didn't take any tools with him, he was unable to fix the project. Bill plans to return to PPHS for his OAC year and then study computers at university. He is considering York and Waterloo universities. In the meantime, Bill will continue to learn more about computers while working with his father who owns a computer company.
