20 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 22, 1993 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" by Mabel Cawker A Thought!. We trust all fa- thers had a memorable day this past Sunday, June 20, and were privileged to be showered with gifts, visits, cards, phone calls, etc. and generally treated with respect by all members of the family. A father possesses in- credible wisdom, and each one has a marvelous insight and skill. In each human heart is that "special" corner which only Dad can fill. Gardening Note A doctor said the other day; What can the reason be? My pa- Sunday School anniversary June 27 tients are all keeping well; There are so few to see. There's Mrs. Headache; Mrs. Pain; and Mrs. Nervous chill. They al- ways needed tonics - a powder and a pill. There's Mrs. Weary and Billy Glum; and Charlotte always blue; I think I had better see them; For this will never do. Why don't you know - his wife spoke up - they haven't any ills - they have taken up gardening, my dear - so now they don't need pills. To the Graduate The road won't always be easy. We have spent twice the money for fireworks over last year's ex- penditure. The Hall Board, Lake Scugog Regatta and the Cartwright Youth Council will all be on hand to give you an evening of enjoyment. Tickets are now on sale for the Regatta lucky draw and the Hall Board's Dance July 31 at the Hall. I regret to report that Gladys Laurie fell last Thursday and broke her hip and is now in the Queensway General Hospital. Let us send her a card. It's strange and sad that three out of four outstanding stewards of the Regatta for a number of years have fallen on hard times with broken bones. Doris and Len Prout and now Gladys. Firefighters - don't forget your Association meeting is this Sunday.
