Last Wednesday the Mer- chants were at home to the vis- iting East Gwillimbury team. After another strong outing the Bantam squad defeated East Gwillimbury 14-8. The Bantams took the lead 2- 0 in the first inning when both D&S SIGNS AND Jeff Clarke and Tommy Cham- bers walked, then scored on a Jason Logan double. East Gwil- limbury took a 3-2 lead until Tommy Chambers scored on a long sacrifice fly by Jason Hali- burton to make the game 3-3. The Port Perry bats then came alive with hits by Jason Logan, Tim Fitzpatrick, Matt Hobbs, Darryl Moase, Brad Shanley and Ian Shrigley. The local boys are now gearing up to play a tough Scarborough squad at home this Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., then to Bramalea Sunday for a double-header. Cottrell's Cuspids Erin Ed- wards and Keenan Geer both demonstrated great hitsing by slamming the ball outfield. and taking two bases. Keenan algo caught a fly ball at second base: Kyle Steele had a good field hit and played well outfield. "\ Seagrave's Amanda Mill, Spencer Beauchamp and Chris Higgins were strong at bat and along with the rest of the team, exhibited good defensive play- ing to win this close game. Cart kes H&M Wright Sox 6 Carpet Warehouse 26 Outstanding plays by Darryl Goulding and Craig Asselstine who each had a three run home run for Carpet Warehouse. There was also a home run by Robert Larmer and Craig Assel- stine. With only seven players, H&M Wright Sox tried their best and there was an excellent hit to right field by Andrea Bon- sma bringing in the first run for H&M Wright Sox. Mike Baker Automotive 16 Turner's Green Giants 13 Behind a very strong hitting attack, the Mike Baker Auto- motive Tykes handed the Turn- er's Green Giants their first loss of the season. Turner's tried courageously in the open inning scoring seven runs, but ended up losing by three runs. Key players for Mike Baker Automotive were Timothy Jen- sen and Ashley Lucas with home runs. Ashley also collect- ed a triple along with Warren Keeler. Gordon Smith spearheaded the Turner attack with a three run home run as well as scoring two runs. Bradley Sutcliffe and Shawn McNamara helped out the offensive cause by scoring three runs each. There were doubles hit by Les- lie Magyar, Stephanie Kings- well, and Jennifer Upton. A good game was played by both teams. Port Perry IGA 25 Cartwright Youth Councilll For Cartwright Youth Coun- cil Ashley had a great stop with Ryan. Mike S had two RBIs. Ex- cellent pitching by Mike Thompson. \ For Port Perry T&A Ryan Kendry did fantastic pitching, Susie Gerrow had a home run and there was a triple by Chel- sea. Tim Brody caught last fly ball to end the game and did ex- cellent pitching. Both teams played a great game. Senior Baseball RaglanIndustries11 Summerlea Golf 4 Excellent pitching and timely hitting by Raglan Industries who had a shutout going into the last inning of the game. This was the first victory for Raglan Industries. For the Summerlea Golf there were singles by John Bur- nett, Alex McLaughlin, Tyler Lucas, and Megan Kyte. A dou- ble was hit by Carla McLaugh- lin.
