32 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 29, 1993 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" . The GM Pro Bass Series began its season with two one-day tournaments on Lake Scugog June 26-27. Cash prizes were handed out to the top 20 teams of fishermen each day. First prize each day was $4,000. An addition bonus of about $1,700 was awarded to Paul Climpson and Les Zacney for having the highest two-day weight. Mr. Climpson and Mr. Zacney are pictured with tournament sponsor Bryce Philp (left) of Philp Pontiac Buick. GM Pro Bass rolled into Port Perry over the wekend for two one-day tournaments. Les Zacherny of Orangeville and Paul Climpson of Sharon were first day winners and two- day overall winners. Their first day weight of 20.95 pounds edged out defending champions Bob and Wayne Izu- mi, who weighed in 20.55 pounds. Craig Evans of Aurora and Ted Ramsey of Willowdale were the second day winners with a winning weight of 19.85 ounds. First place garners 5,000in cash. Their first place weight was more than a pound greater than their nearest competitors Todd Smith and Colin Stass of Bol- ton, whose six-fish weighed in at 18.25 pounds. Port Perry's Peter Davidson and partner Hector Peach of Scarborough placed third on the second day with 18.20 pounds. They also weighed in the big bass ofthe day at 6.05 pounds.
