In the fi- nal eighth inning, Remax had two singles, one by Jennifer and Debbie T but could not score any runs and Saintfield finished the game with another run to make the final score Re- max 23, Saintfield 11. Remax had 39 hits and the scoresheet read: Joan four sin- gles, Dianne McC three singles, Nancy three singles, Debbie M three singles, Donna four sin- gles, Jennifer three singles, Debbie T three singles, Gerda three singles, one walk, Deanne two singles, Cheryl four sin- gles, Colleen two singles, Marg two singles, one double and Joyce two singles. Jennifer pitched seven innings with four K's/foul out and Nancy pitched one inning after just returning from the DL. Taylor Ford Mites hit slump A couple of good defensive plays were registered by Mike LeFort and Matt Skerratt for a tagout at home and by short- stop Tim Jones to tagout a run- ner going to second. Our 10 runs were mainly thanks to walks as we sputtered at the bat a little in recording just four hits (two by LeFort and two by Skerratt). Jeff Kane earned three walks including a "clunker" off the hel- met. Mike LeFort was collared 'with the:"L" from the pitching position. Again the team was on the road on June 24, this time to Stouffville. Stouffville kept run- ners going across home plate thanks to a lot of walks and in- field hits and some inconsistent umpiring. Defensive highlights were by callup player Brandon Haugen who made an outstand- ing catch in right field on a sink- ing line drive and a nice catch by shortstop Steve MacLennan. Tim Jones took the loss in this one as he wasn't able to estab- lish a good pitching rhythm. Mike LeFort helped in relief. It was nice to see Stuart Co- chrane's and Mike Koury's bats come alive in these games. Their practice seems to be pay- ing off. Next home game will be June 30 at Water St. S. (6:30 p.m.) as the team seeks to find the win- column again and avenge a re- cent last inning loss to Thorn- hill. Improved team defence, pitching and avoidance of "called" third strikes will un- doubtedly be the key in this re- gard for the Taylor-Ford squad. 2088808088 --- -- -- --. m-- po ---- -- -- S-- -- ----- --- S-- Sw ta, -- -- -- f-- --- ---- ---- -- -- -- ---- Po -- ---- a -- -- -_-- -- ----- -- -- -- ---- -- --_-- --- -- -- -- -- -- -- R --- Sm) -- -- -- pa -- S-- S-- Sw) p-- --y ---- --_-- -- -- _-- -- -- p-- -- -- -- p-- -- "j-- -- | od BLACKSTOCK [TRcron, |i 2nd Ins at BLACKSTOCK FAIR GROUNDS FRIDAY, JULY 2nd 7 P.M.
