38 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 29, 1993 Utica Day Care held Its annual graduation and family barbe- Cue on Friday, June 25. The young grads sang a few songs for their parents before receiving thelr diplomas. 9 nd Nestleton, Caesarea by Albe This week we had a devastat- ing message relayed to us about our beloved Mabel. Yes, Mabel is in the hospital. Sunday when I paid her a visit, she was quite perky and much like that per- son who feels only 50. I kidded her about the poem she entered in her column last week and re- minded her that she stood me up for my last two dates. Ei- leen's dinner party followed by the ball game, plus a couple of weeks later, the Fireworks at the hall. Mabel's hoping to be home in three or four days. Our prayers and best wishes are ex- tended to you, Mabel Cawker. Nestleton Presbyterian Church News June 20 - With an average at- tendance, the Nestleton Presby- terian Church service was con- ducted by Rev. Wm. Fairley. The organist was Shirley Scott, and the Sunday School was in charge of Dorothy Lee. Ushers were Barney McCabe and Oli- ver Rohrer. Psalm 86 was read respon- sively and Scripture readings were from Genesis 21 and St. Matthew 10. Rev. Fairley spoke on "Take Up Thy Cross" that God's care is always with us, even as the sparrows are watched over. Regular service Sunday, June 27 at 11 a.m. Come and worship with us. June 27 - Rev. Fairley con- ducted the regular service in Nestleton Presbyterian Church at 11a.m., with Shirley Scott or- ganist. Dorothy Lee taught the unday School. Barney McCabe and Oliver Rohrer were the ush- ers. Psalm 13 was read respon- sively, and Scripture readings were from Genesis 22 and St. Matthew 20. The sermon thoughts were well expressed in the third hymn sung - "Spirit of God - de- scend upon my heart" - "teach me the patience of unanswered prayer". During July and August, there won't be services in this Church, but will resume the second Sunday in September. Caesarea News We are hoping as many fa- thers as possible will take the family to Port Perry Latcham Centre for dinner on Thursday, Canada Day 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Roast beef or, if the kids prefer, weiners. I believe the cost is $8 per adult and $5 for children un- der 12 years. Support the Cen- tral 7 Community Services. You can then attend the Port Perry Fireworks. We wish to thank all those who came out and supported the fireworks effort Saturday night at the hall. We had a great turnout and about three times as many children over last year. Everything seemed to go wrong but in the end, I'm sure you all enjoyed yourselves. Next year it was suggested we hire a magician instead of having games as the Cart- wright Youth Council found it too hard to control. Your thoughts along this line would be welcome. Our thanks to the Hall Board, Cartwright Youth Council, Caesarea (Scugog) Firefighters, Regatta, Council- lor David Dietlein and our star of the evening, Rick Arbour, all worked to make the evening a success. July 17 is the next big day coming up with: a) Cartwright Youth Council holding an all day volleyball tournament from 11 am. to 11 p.m. Get your teams ready. b) that is the weekend all us Regatta folks hit the road to ask you for your once a year donation to keep the Re- gatta alive, pay for the upkeep of the park and hydro. It's great to see the park used and in such good shape. Still waiting for Councillor Marilyn Pearce's re- port on the playground equip- ment, only a couple of days and we are into July. ¢) Blackstock 18 holding the beach party at the arena. Sorry to hear Frank Camisso broke his left wrist. Get registered today for the Regatta Golf Tournament July 24, by phoning 986-0181 or 986- 4016 or 986-0947. See you at home next week, Mabel.
