Building expansion at fairground Scugog Council has approved plans for renovations to some buildings on the fairgrounds. - Dr. Bill Cohoon, president of 4 the Port Perry Agricultural So- ciety, appeared before council on Monday seeking permission to expand some of the buildings to accommodate more people and storage space. According to Dr. Cohoon, the $4,000 project calls for a 48 foot 'by 40 foot expansion to the exist- ing picnic shelter at the fair- grounds. The building would provide changerooms for entertainers and storage space for props. A larger office for the fair board would also be built. GRADUATE GLENN MALCOLM Glenn Malcolm of Nestleton received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Trent University during the recent Convocation exercises. Glenn is presently farming and managing a retail store in Lindsay. Council approved the request for the additions contingent on approval by the building depart- ment. The fair board and Scugog Council have been at odds re- cently over the future of the fair- grounds at the corner of Region- al Road 8 and Old Simcoe Road. Council is in favor of moving the site across the street, while the fair board: is fighting to retain the historicsite. At a recent meeting council called on the board to develop a five-year plan for the prime land. Dr. Cohoon told council that the board is consulting with a structural engineer and are in the process of developing the plan.
