From what I can understand, it is quite a place. You're driving west on a country road when you notice nice white fences on your right, then comes two stone columns, here you enter and notice the gardener's cot- tage on your left and continue north up this long driveway with a row of red maples on each side, plus flower beds and manicured grass to the circular drive in front of the house. There stands this beautiful large white mansion with four Roman columns from the ground to the roof above the sec- ond floor. On the east side of the mansion, there is a large solari- um with walkout to a bricked-in patio. Off in the easterly dis- tance, you notice about 18 young race horses. As you enter the north east corner, you look and see the trainer's race track behind the mansion before go- ing down about five steps. As you look at the back of the man- sion, there's a section which is a wall of glass, allowing you to watch the horses on the track. A short distance off are the racing stables or barns. Off in the north westerly direction is a small river which flows south. On the west side is, the swim- ming pool with layed in brick as a walkway, bordered by a con- tinuous row of petunias, a three car garage and change rooms. The person telling me this story wanted to describe the inside but I had to excuse myself as I had to get to the bank before they closed. Mabel, if they need another house guest out there, let me know, or even a stable boy. Ha! Ha! Ha! Nestleton Women's Institute Meeting July Due to the weather condi- tions, the meeting scheduled for Cartwright Peace Park was held instead at the Nestleton Community Centre. Rika Wy- gerde, President, read from the "Friendship Book", after the Opening Ode and Collect. Neta Fish read the June meeting minutes, and reported on fi- nances. Gwen Malcolm read the write-up of the Dedication Ser- vice held Oct.' 8, 1992, when Park officials designated Cart- wright Peace Park, one of over 200 Peace Parks so named across Canada. This was fol- lowed by an article on stamps issued showing the Provincial Parks and noting July 17 as Parks Day. Algonquin Park cel- ebrates its 100th Anniversary that day. Correspondence was read, collection and "Pennies for Friendship" taken and roll call - "Name a Canadian law pertain- ing to women." Norma Frew gave the motto - "Peace cannot be kept by force, only by under- standing." Next month, we plan to go to Bonfire for luncheon at 11:30 a.m., and to the matinee at 2 p.m. at Lindsay Summer Thea- tre. Cards were signed for Ma- bel Cawker, Cecil and Edna Wilson. The topic "Citizenship" was given by Winnifred Davison, Convenor, followed by a humor- ous reading. Bertha McLaughlin, Grace Bajema, Rika Wygerde served a delicious lunch with strawber- ries and cream, and Neta ex- pressed the appreciation for the Volleyball tournament cancelled ", meeting and lunch. Caesarea News I regret the Cartwright Youth Council (CYC) has had to cancel the volleyball tourna- ment due to lack of interest. I congratulate the CYC on running the teen dances at the Latcham Centre last Thursday, Friday and Saturday which were a great success. This weekend is the most im- portant for the Regatta Associa- tion (L.S.R.A.) as it's our only once-a-year direct fund raising drive to finance the Regatta and maintain the Park throughout the year. Please give generously and have your cheque ready. Don't forget to register for the L.S.R.A. Gold Tournament Sat- urday, July 24, 8 a.m. Thirty dollars include green fees. Grace and Les Beacock at- tended the 66th Beacock Reun- ion at Mr. and Mrs. Nickolson's in Lindsay. The grounds looked lovely. It was nice to hear from Grace. We're glad she survived the hot weather. Congratulations to the orga- nizers of Festival Days. Judging from the crowds, it was a suc- cess. We had a major soccer tour- nament at the Soccer Fields and we were impressed by the polite players and their families. Al- though it was very hot, we heard very few unsportsman- like comments. Many thanks to the coaches and players. Also thanks to Colin, Roy and Alf for helping Elizabeth and I in the canteen. Happy Birthday wishes go ave Stanley. I hope he survived his surprise party. I'm sorry that I missed it. After Elizabeth took me out to din- ner, I fell asleep. I know that the party went well without me. Congratulations, Dave. Nice job done by Bev. Please call me with any sum- mer news. Since my family won't let me write about them, I have to use my friends and neighbors. I don't want to be run out of town, so please call.
