Blackstock's Agricultural Socie- ty President Leah- Frew, Com- mittee Chairman Jodi Duff and her committee wish to thank all who helped to contribute to the evening's success. This hard- working committee must be congratulated on the excellent decorations and all the other de- tails that made this Beach Par- ty the fun it was. The weather was absolutely perfect for an outdoor event. Isobel and Frank Potts of Pe- trolia celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by attend- ing the Kokomo Beach Band. They enjoyed touring this area as well. Miss Vera Forder of Peterbo- rough enjoyed a visit of a few days last week with her nephew Walter and Audrey Wright. While here, she visited with several other relatives of this area. The O.N.O. Club sponsored for the 19th year a swim pro- gram for two weeks to Uxpool. With 41 swimmers, it was very successful once again. Watch for it again next spring to regis- ter. - Several couples Blackstock area enjoyed the Durham East Soil and Crop Im- provement Tour to Eastern On- tario last week. Some of the places of interest toured were various types of farms including a deer farm, cheese factory, the site of the huge landslide that occurred in June, the CASCO plant in Cardinal, the boat cruise on the Thousand Islands and a tour of Wolfe Island near Kingston. A very successful Devitt's Dungeon Horseshoe Tourna- ment was held at the home of Phil and Claudette Archer on the First Concession with Tom and Wilma Wotten helping to co-ordinate. This was the 13th year for this tournament. Win- ners were declared as Doubles - Tom and Wilma Wotten; Sin- gles Women - Danielle Millson and Singles Men - Rick Alpe. The gorgeous weekend was en- joyed by 85 people. Marg and Heinz Vehof and family are enjoying having Marg's three brothers staying with them since July 7 on a great heliday. Heinz, Clemens and Theo Vennes of Germany will be returning home on July 22. When Marg picked them up, - they were surprised by the lim- ousine complete with cham- pagne. What a wonderful fami- ly time. Elaine Young, with her daughters Kirstie and Holli, of Hamilton is spending a holiday with her parents, Walter and Audrey Young and visiting oth- er relatives while here. . There were 12 tables at the weekly card party on Tuesday evening with the following win- ners - Bernice Wells, Harold Swain, Lorna Swain, Eileen Warder, Richard Manns, Ber- nice Loudfoot and Ross McRo- berts. Draws were won by Carl Gimblett, Verna Robinson, Nor- man Rohrer, Nerta Masters and Jim Emer- ton. Kay Schlott of Lower Saxony, Germany is a Junior Farmer delegate who is spending much of the summer in Ontario. She spent this past week with Mari- lyn Green and her parents, Don and Marjorie Green, and visit- ed many points of interest while here. Leanne Dorrance, Laura Brickley and her brother, Linc Brickley are visiting from Sas- katchewan. Six years ago the girls were 4-H exchange dele- gates and they returned this week to renew friendships. Nancy Green hosted their visit. Better health is wished for David Vernast who was badly burned in a propane explosion at their home east of Black- stock. Dave is a patient in the Burn Unit of Wellesley Hospi- tal, Toronto. Mrs. Clara Honey of Camp- bellford is spending a few days with her daughter, Marjorie and Don Green and family. On Sunday evening, Don and Marjorie were guests of honor at a family barbecue at the home of Robert and Sue Green, Newcastle, to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. About thirty gathered for this happy event. Best wishes, Don and Marjorie. It is great that you are recovering from the bad burn you suffered with a lawn- mower explosion a while ago, Don.
