Under Six The mini soccer is going over well this summer with all the participants showing lots of en- thusiasm and spirit. The Legion and Laurentian Bank squared off against each other for two matches in the last two weeks ting an injury and being re- lieved by Tim who kept the team in the game by not allow- ing any runs the rest of the way either. He also made the "T.V." play of the game in catching a bullet line drive hit directly back at him for the last out of the game. The second game: of the dou- ble header was the teams sixth in two days and it presented an opportunity for Steve MacLen- nan (first "pro" strikeout) and Stuart Cochrane to pitch for the first time in rep fastball. Our morale was boosted by notching five runs despite the "laffer" loss score. Once again Matt Skerratt did a "delayed steal" of home. Matt Breen hit safely in his only A.B. Jeff made a nice scoop on a grounder to third to "force" the runner there. Port Perry and the team's sponsor can be reassured that, win or lose, our rep fastballers win 4-2 and one in the second. The local ladies then added two in the sixth to put the game in their control. The Angels were scheduled to meet the S&H Fabs of Oshawa at home on Sunday night. Greenbank Bakery wins Catching up with the Green- bank Bakery Seven Eight Mites, they enjoyed another ex- citing game on Monday, July 5 against Seagrave Country Style Donuts. Both teams took turns with the lead. Going into the second last inning, Greenbank Bakery went ahead thanks to consis- tent hitting by the whole team, including Russell Lee's hard hits to the outfield. Good hitting along with fast running by players like James Adderly kept the score rising to 14-9 for Greenbank. Seagrave Country Style Do- nuts held Greenbank's runs go- ing into the final inning, due to strong defence from their team including plays by Cassie Snid- er and Amanda Hill on the bas- es. Derrick Kent kept moving runners around with a solid hit at bat every time to help Sea- grave's rally of hit and runs. A determined defence by Greenbank players who wouldn't give up, especially by Robert Potier who got three outs during the game, brought Seagrave to a stop with the final score Greenbank Bakery 14 - Seagrave Country Style Donuts 13. (Thanks for the donuts, Sea- grave!) This week, Greenbank Bak- ery took advantage of a "by" and held a practice.
