The home team got off to a fast start and scored four runs in the first. The Mer- chants' "attack was evenly spread and the game ended in a 6-4 win for the Port Perry team, On Tuesday night, Bowman- ville made the return trip and once again it'was a close game. In the fifth, the Merchants were ahead 3-1 when Bowmanville struck for two runs to tie the game, eventually forcing extra - innings, With bases loaded and none out, Moase hit a single to win the game 4-3. On' Wednesday night, the Merchants visited their neme; sis, the Stouffville Juniors and lost the game 10-4. The Stouff- ville pitcher struck out nine bat- ters and left seven runners to Scugo and $1 for spectators. In-line van coming back for Scugog rollerblading Due to popular demand thé Bauer van will be coming back g Arena on Friday afternoons for rollerblading. Rollorblading will take place each Friday in August, with the Bauer van being on hand on August 13and 217. CANSTAR is providing a promotional sevice this summer where it travels the province to promote in-line skating. The y service includes a mobile unit which houses numerous pairs of rollerblades, available for use on a demonstration basi All ages are invited to come out on-Friday afternogns 'begin- ning at 1 p.m. to test their skating abilitiés. A disc jockey service will be on hand 'to provide entertain- ment. Admission is $2.50 for children under 16, $3 for adults N\ stranded .on the bages. On Thursday evening at Dur- ham Fields, the Oshawa Men's League AllStar team played a very entertaining game against the Oshawa Hornets which end- ed in a 3-3 tie. All three runs were scored 'on home runs by Pilkey (one) and Dingman (two). The Merchants' represen- tatives, Jason McBride and Darrell Vander Slagt both con- tributed positively to the win with their fine defensive plays.
