The family of Ruth Ashton cordially invite friends, family and neighbors to her 80th birth- day celebration which is being held on Sunday, Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Epsom Church. So newcomers come and meet Ruth and other guests. All present on Sunday at Ep- som Church were pleased with the lovely service and the mes- sage brought to us by Shirley Baster. Jill Asling and friend Danny Monk of Hanover have been vis- iting Jill's grandparents Don and Stella Asling of Medd Road and grandmother Ollie Barton of Uxbridge for a week. Birthday greetings to Sara Hansen who celebrated her birthday on Saturday. She and her parents and brother went to a barbecue at the home of friends in Uxbridge. We were sorry to hear of the passing of Hazel Gerrow - for- merly of Epsom. She was mar- ried to Charlie Clarke while liv- ing in Epsom. After Charlie passed away she married Mr. Dingman. Hazel was in her 96th year and passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Another former neighbor and good friend, Evelyn Hanson of Port Perry had surgery in Oshawa last Tuesday. Speedy recovery. Bill and Melba McKay took three grandsons Jordan and Alex McKay and James Steven- son to visit with their cousins Kingston. Earl and Elizabeth Taylor went to Lake of Bays to visit son John and his wife and daugh- ters of London who were holi- daying there. On Sunday, they attended the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin. There was a very large atten- dance. Keith and Fave Ashton and Ruth Ashton visited Joyce and Alan Ashton of Oakwood on Tuesday evening. There was a very large crowd of nearly 300 to enjoy the annu- al Murray Gray Barbecue at the home of Bill Tran on Medd Road last weekend. Visitors with Ray and Doro- thy Munro were Gordon Wilson of Goodwood, also Jean and El- don Fee of Blackstock. The Wilson Picnic was held in Elgin Park on Sunday, about 50 attended. Many from the area attended the "Threshing Day" at Quaker Hill Museum last weekend.
