Special awards went to Doris Slute for the best specimen flower (dahlia). Best specimen gladiolus was won by Sid Pugh. Eileen Slute won the award for the best vegetable (broccoli). Best decorative went to Mary Housego for her entry of "Triennial World Flower Show". Congratulations to all! Norma Ingleton took many prizes on her entries. We man- aged to get a few on our gladio- lus. Lori Kelm, a representative of Whitby Parks Department gave a most interesting presen- tation on "Formal Gardens". Don't forget Sept. 22 is the spring bulb sale. The euchre results are as fol- lows: nine tables were played, Ladies first prize was won by Ruby Smith of Raglan, second prize Kay Brown. Men's first Nelson Cole, second Carl Gimb- let. Lone hands won by Gordon Greg. 50/50 draw won by Olive Ormiston. Lucky door prize winner Celeste Smalley. Next euchre will be on Sept. 30 at the Community Centre. Everyone welcome. Retirement party 2 eld for On Saturday, Aug. 21, Terry and Eileen Hodgins attended the wedding of their son Kevin and Charlene Burke in Toronto, also grandmother Grace Cher- rie and sister Heather and Mark Lucus of Australia. Friends attending were Roy and Dorothy Hope, Lloyd and Beth Pereman. On Sunday, Aug. 22, family and friends of Merv Pugh sur- prised him on his birthday and retirement for a party at Merv resident and Ilean's summer home on Balsam Lake. A good time was had by all. Merv would like to thank everyone who came and those who sent best wishes. Fred and Vivian Canning and Lisa attended a wedding in Bracebridge of long-time friends. The repairs and improve- ments are nearly all completed at the community centre ready for fall activities.
