For Country Hardware sin- gles were hit by Brian De- Tombe, Jason Price, Amanda Richmond, Jamie Budge, Ja- nele Buller and Laura Tyrrell. Katie Stephenson hit a double. Good eyes at the plate led to walks by Brian DeTombe, Amanda Richmond, Chris Pot- tery, Janele Buller, Katie Ste- phenson, Ryan Sheehey and anny Bucking. Katie Stephenson, Brian De- Tombe, Laura Tyrrell and Amanda Richmond all made some fine plays in the field. For Don Frew & Sons singles were hit by Cameron Vernest, John Vanstrien, Amanda Drew, Luc Wilson, Steven Paradis and Elisha James. A double was hit by Darryl Keeler. Good eyes at the plate led to walks by Cameron Vernest, John Vanstrien, Trish Haertel, Luc Wilson, Steven Paradis and Sarah Stapley. Sarah Stapley made a great catch in the outfield. Elisha James was ready to play and slugged a good one. Luc Wilson stuck it out to finish the game after taking one of Tricia's fast- balls to the ear. On Saturday morning Black- stock Country Hardware faced the Nestleton Country Store. Blackstock took this game by a score of 21-3. For Blackstock Country Hardware singles were hit by Brian DeTombe, Jason Price, Sean Warren, Jamie Budge, Amanda Richmond, Ryan Shee- hey, Katie Stephenson, and Laura Tyrrell. Home runs were hit by Jamie Budge, Sean Warren and Jason Price. Triples were hit by Sean War- ren (two), and Katie Stephen- son. Chris Pottery had a double. Good eyes at the plate led to walks by Brian DeTombe, Ja- son Price, Jamie Budge, Aman- da Richmond, Ryan Sheehey, Chris Pottery, Katie Stephen- son, Janele Buller and Danny Bucking. Amanda , Richmond, Jamie Budge, Brjan DeTombe and Ka- tie Stephénson all made excel- lent catches. For Nestleton Country Store . Bradley Krann and Chris Goble (Lishman's) both had singles. Holly Westall had a triple. Grant Arsenault, John Burnett, Tyler Lucas and Bradley Krann each had walks. Later on Saturday morning Blackstock Country Hardware went on to beat Asselstines Ya- maha by a score of 13-8. Singles were hit by Jamie Budge, Amanda Richmond, Chris Pottery, Janele Buller and Laura Tyrrell. Asselstines Yamaha faced Don Frew and Sons taking themby a score of 9-5. For Asselstines Chad and Adam had home runs. The championship game was played by Don Frew & Sons and Blackstock Country Hardware later on Saturday afternoon with Don Frew taking it 17-16 in a very close and well played game. For the Don Frew crew dou- bles were hit by Troy Mappin (two), Cameron Vernest, Tricia Haertel, Amanda Drew, John Vanstrien and Elisha James. Singles were hit by Cameron Vernest, Darryl Keeler (three), Troy Mappin (three), Tricia Hartel, Amanda Drew (four), John Vanstrien (two), Justin (two), Elisha James (three), Ste- ven Paradis (two) and Sarah Stapley. Hardball Tournament Mosquito - J.C. Flooring J.C. Flooring still undefeated in the playoffs and going on to the finals on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Port Perry Fairgrounds. J.C. Flooring went up against Laurentian Bank for a tie game of 6-6 on Wednesday night in Blackstock. Joey Derynck and Brian 'Wonnacott were excel- lent on the pitchers mound. Kyle McClurg made some good plays behind the plate and had two singles. He was fast on his feet stealing bases. Every- one on the team had some good its. A great game played by every- one. Congratulations to the team. for taking it all the way to finals in the first year involved in hardball. Hubbard of Oshawa led off with a single, followed by Tammy's single, be- fore Elliott flied out to centre field, with the "Angels" winning This was the win that put the . "Angels" against the "Angels" of Cobourg in the semi-final on Sunday morning. "Angels" down Bowmanville 'The Scugog "Angels" were down 5-3 going into the fifth in- ning against the Bowmanville Merchants, when they erupted for nine runs. Mandee Porter led off with a single, then promptly stole second "(Mand- ee stole second)" - wow, and with her blinding speed was able to score on Tracy Smith's single up centre, who also stole second. Laurie Dudgeon then doubled to score Tracy, stole third, then scored on Nancy McConnell's double. ena Spence walked and both Nancy and Gena scored on Janie Thornton's single to left. Joyce Parkinson then tripled home Janie, and scored on Am- ber Wood's single. Kim Stewart then singled, before Mandee Porter drove home Amber and Kim with a double to right. Tra- cy Smith then singled home Mandee before Laurie Dudgeon brought home Tracy with her second single of the inning. This made the score 12-5. They added two more runs in the seventh on Laurie Dud- geon's single, after Tracy Smith singled ahead of Laurie. Nancy McConnell got on by a fielder's choice before Gena Spence trip- led home both runners, making the final score 14-6 "Angels". Laurie Dudgeon with four hits, Joyce Parkinson, Amber Wood with three hits each, Mandee Porter, Tracy Smith, Nancy McConnell and Janie Thornton all had two hits each. Janie also had four R.B.1.'s. "Angels lost 7-6, Fabs" The Scugog "Angels" started was short-lived as Sharron led off the bottom of the first for Oshawa Fabs with a walk, then sacrifice to second, then scored on Connie Brown's double. The score after oné was 1-1, Dana McMillan started off the third with a triple to right centre, then scored on. Laurie Dudgeon's single, who ad- vanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kim Stewart. Nancy McCon- nell then singled home Laurie and stole second. Gena .Spence then singled, Joyce Parkinson got on by an error to the first baseman, with Nancy scoring on the throw. Janie Thornton then singled home Gena. Then Mandee Porter singled home Joyce, before Dana ended the inning on a ground out. They held off the Oshawa Fabs, then added two more ked, then Nancy McConnell gled and Gena Spence also singled, before Joyce Parkinson singled home Kim. Nancy then scored on Janie Thornton's fly to centre field. The "Angels" at this point led 8-1, this was be- fore the Oshawa S & H Fabs came alive and got their band wagon rolling with Hubbard leading off with a single fol- lowed by Lacomb's single. Wad- izuk then singled to load the bases. Then Tammy unloaded a three-run triple to right field, and this seemed to give the Fabs some life in their game. They got nothing in the fifth, but they were not to be denied in thisone. : Ha In the bottom of the sixth, Hubbard led off with a single, followed by Lacomb's single, then things started to look up as the next two batters were outs. But Elliott pinch hitting for Sharon slapped out a single to score Hubbard, Sam Chufero then cleared the bases with a triple, followed by Bronson's triple which tied the game at 8- 8. Connie Brown singled home Bronson to give Oshawa Fabs a 9-8 win. "A well-deserved win at that". They did not give up in this one, result a 9-8 win! Gena Spence with three hits, along with Laurie Dudgeon, Nancy McConnell, Mandee Porter all had two hits each. Eight runs should win a ball game, but in this one, it was just not enough. Oshawa Double "B"s won the league championship, capping off .a wonderful year. These young ladies of the Durham La- dies Fastball Lea won the Canadian Midget Ladies Fast- ball Championship also, they went undefeated, too. And to get there, they won the Ontario Provincial Championship also. Quite a year for these young la- dies. This says a lot for the Dur- ham Ladies Fastball League. We wish to say "Lots of Luck" to the Scugog "Angels" in their endeavor to compete in the Eastern Canadian Champion- ship in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Sept. 10, 11, 12.
