"A Family Tradition for 127 Years" Annual Fall Harvest Days at museum this weekend Scugog Shores Museum Vil- lage will usher in the autumn season with its annual Fall Har- vest Days on Saturday, Sept. 18 and Sunday, Sept. 19. The 5th annual event promis- es to be fun for the entire family, says museum curator/director Kim Harper. Friends of the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada will demonstrate techniques used in the year 1812, including period cooking and camping. "Their demonstration will fo- cus on family life in the militia," Mrs. Harper says. French Canadian step dancing will be demonstrated, the Step In Time Cloggers will perform, and Dar- ryl Linnington will be on hand to teach line dancing on Satur- day. Musically, members of the Oshawa Fiddle Club will per- form selections while strolling around the museum grounds, and Port Perry High School choir Jazzmerize will delight both young and old with their songs. Many special events have been planned for the children including corn husk doll mak- ing, face painting, a coloring contest, games from yester- years, and museum tours for children over four years of age. Kids will also have the chance to press applesintocider. Of course, all the museum buildings will be open to the public and many period demon- strations will be going on inside them. Many local artists will be in attendance as well to show their native and cottage crafts. Among them will be Sue Barton and Kay Goldberg of Barton- berg Originals who will display their unique oil cloth dolls and fantasy figures. Refreshments will also be available, including freshly- pressed apple cider and hot corn on the cob. Fall Harvest Days takes place this weekend from noon to 5 p.m. each day. Children who come dressed in period costumes will receive a prize. Admission is $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for seniors, $1.50 for stu- dents, and $1 for children seven to 13 years old. Family admis- sionis $10. Children who have a Fall Harvest Days promotional flyer will be admitted free. Flyers are available at the Port Perry IGA.
