Mr. Cornacchia was visibly upset when he learned of this development, saying he had waited for an hour and it was "utmost urgent" they iron out some serious problems. He said there was no way they could get through the meeting in half-an-hour so council agreed to meet again today (Tuesday) with Mr. Cornacchia to try and get the project underway. This meant Mayor Howard Hall leaving a meeting in Brampton early to get back for the afternoon council session. During the brief meeting, planner John McDermott stressed to council an amend- ment to the zoning by-law would be necessary to address the many concerns. Council meets today to try and iron-out their concerns so Six in hospital after accident A single vehicle accident on the Island Road late Friday eve- ning sent six people to hospital, one with serious injuries. According to Durham Region- al Police a 1989 Ford, driven by Shane Morris, of Toronto, lost control on the Island Road, went into the ditch and struck a tree at approximately 10:50 p.m. The driver, along with two 16- year-old females, one from Oshawa and one from Toronto, a 16-year-old male from Toronto and a 15-year-old male from Ajax were all taken to Commu- nity Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. A 16-year-old 'male from Oshawa was airlifted to Western Hospital with a skull fracture. The accident is still under in- vestigation. the Erin Leigh project can get underway. NEE Union files objection on failsafe The Union representing Town- ship employees has filed an objection to the failsafe plan posted by Scugog Township on August 31. A letter from David .Sarookanian, a rep. of CUPE suggests the plan should be re- posted with appropriate amend- ments, and the parties should meet to discuss and clarify the plan to be reposted. Clerk Administrator Earl Cuddie told council they had 10 days to respond to the Union's letter either reconfirming the plan or posting a new plan.
