Nestleton Presbyterian Church Anniversary by Winifred Davison The 148th anniversary of Nestleton Presbyterian Church was celebrated at 1la.m. ser- vice with Rev. Wm. Fairley in the pulpit. The Port Perry Sen- iors Choir provided special mu- sic for the occasion, with Mrs. Edna Beckett accompanying on the organ. The numbers were "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of Good", "He Keeps Me Singing" and "Wonderful Grace of Je- sus". Joyce Taylor was organist for the hymns and ushers were John Macrae and Barney McCabe. The Sunday School pupils stayed in the church for the service. Beautiful mums graced the chancel in memory of Richard Davison and Arnold Taylor. : The responsive reading was Psalm 24, and scripture read- ings were from Exodus 163 and John 6. Rev. Fairley spoke on "Hu- man Desire and Divine Will", pointing out that God leads His people through the years, from the time of the falling of the mana, to the present time - our physical and spiritual needs are met. We should give thanks to God, and let the King of Glo- ry into our lives. A bountiful luncheon fol- lowed the service, and apprecia- tion to all expressed. by Albert Putsey This week there is little news, no births, weddings or elderly birthdays or wedding Seeing I have little to write about, let's go off on a tangent with me. I went into my favor- ite automotive and general sup- ply store the other day and needed some material and ad- vice so I looked for my favorite salesperson called David. He's a young lad who's full of exuber- ance, interested in you and knows the complete line of all products. "Oh, he's back at school", they informed me. "He only works here during the summer and at weekends." One weekend in the same store, I stood before a teenage cashier and during the time my order was being rung up, she was busy in coversation with a second party about a dance. Ob- viously, she had received no business training. I spoke a week or so ago about two young people de- stroying the new basketball backboards in the park and walking off down Putsey Drive. Young Ralph McQuade has tak- en it upon himself to replace these broken units with ply- wood painted several times and with the red stripe around it you can't tell them from factory manufactured units. Our Cartwright youth coun- cil last spring raised one thou- sand dollars for playground equipment. Last week was Ter- ry Fox week and we all know the great legacy he left with us. Why is it we have such a great youth group coming along with such interest in our society and have these strays bent on de- stroying and disruption? To this youth helpful group I can only say, stay in school and specialize, for this period we are going through is a time of. credit correction. When times were good, the banks and trust. companies were too generous with credit. The good book states we are to live on 70 per cent of our salaries, retain 20 per cent for that seventh year which could be a crop failure and tithe 10 per cent. » Computerized Bookkeeper Services * Integrated Financial System Records * All Business Transactions * Provides Accurate/Timely Reports * Reasonable Rates * 18 Yrs Experience * Free Pick-up & Delivery CALL AND SAVE THOSE STEEP ACCOUNTING FEES 985-7108 Rates subject to change without notice SCUGOG FINANCIAL SERVICES A DIVISION OF CRESSBROOK FINANCIAL PLANNING LTD. 250 QUEEN STREET - PORT PERRY "Serving Scugog for Over 15 Years" PHONE 985-3832 Since 1945 in our industrial nation, we have gone through periods like this and the longer good times prevail the more se- vere the correction years are.
