Derek Byers of R. R. 1, Port Perry was northbound on Re- gional Road 7 (Island Road) when he lost control of his vehi- cle at 6:09 a.m., report Durham Regional Police. The 24-year- old man was thrown from the vehicle. Due to the severity of his inju- ries, Mr. Byers was taken by air ambulance to a Toronto hospi- tal.
