One preferred route for the double-circuit 500 kV transmis- sion line for the top end of the GTA would run along either the west or east shore of Lake Scu- gog, before connecting with an- other system in Mount Alberti in the west. The study is also considering a parcel of land on the west side of Regional Road 23 at Regional Road 21 as the potential site for a 230/44 kV transformer station and transmission lines. This site is one of many sites being considered in the area. Ms. Cancilla said a number of factors will be taken into consid- eration in choosing the site. These include technical, social and environmental criteria. The Electricity Supply Study is in response to the demand for hydro power in growing areas of the GTA, said Mo. Cancilla. Hydro is currently conduct- ing environmental assessment studies to determine the most feasible options. Public forums have been held to gather input from the various communities.
