We saw the biggest parade Toronto has ever seen. The Dome stadi- um had the seats full and we saw the longest sports program on TV but there was not even a game of any kind. To hear the praise and achievements of those who were honored made us very proud of our "Blue Jays" World Series winners. Did you notice how many men thanked God? Their wives were honored, too! Wouldn't it be nice to just once hear our "politicians" speak kindly of one another, as we" heard those in charge at the Dome stadium. . Sunday in church Rev. Shep- herd asked God for guidance for 'our political leaders on the elec- tion day, Monday. . It was Baptism Sunday. Jil- lian Margaret, daughter of Don- ald and Karen Webb; Sara Ni- cole, daughter of Jeffrey and Kathy Weeks; Kathleen Eliza- beth, daughter of Alan and Sharon Graham were welcomed into the christian church. The choir thrilled the congre- gation with "If We Ever" accom- panied on the piano by our or- ganist Linda Hunter, at the opening of the service, and later sang. One hymn "Child of Bless- ing" from the new 1995 United Church Hymn Book, was sung appropriately after the Baptism Service. Five new pictures were placed.on the TV sereen by five members of the Sunday School. - The Afternoon Fidelis Group of U.C.W. will meet on 1:30 p.m. in the church. It brought back wonderful memories of the Don Messer show when Katherine sang the songs so beautifully from yes- terday. She introduced Charlie : Farquharson to us. He was his old funny self, taking us. into. his world of satire, Together, 'Katherine and Don acted in several skits. As a beautiful "lady", Don really was just too funny. After the show, we met the stars for a visit. We learned - Don is a relative of the Don Hadden's and also, Isobel and Morley Raines. They enjoyed getting together for a visit. I, myself, got. a big hug from 'Katherine as we talked about the happy days that we watched the Don Messer show on TV. Here we saw Katherine make her singing debut so long ago. Don promised to look up my son-in-law Gordon West of the RCMP in Charlottetown ce 'Port Perry.
