Pineridge Atoms tie Lindsay Thursday, Oct. 28, saw Pine- ridge Atoms play a strong Lind- say club with a lot of end to end play but ended in a scoreless first period. Several attempts halfway through the first period by the Lindsay boys were blocked by goalie Shawn Mar- tin, and the second half of the game showed great goal tend- ing by Ryan Woods. Ian Garnett was a hard work- er in the second period with a nice three way setup with Mike LeFort, and Gerard Timmers, but the shot was blocked by the Lindsay goalie. A second nice setup but blocked again. Tough break guys. Port Perry opened the scoring at 6:04 of the second period with a booming shot from Matt Sker- ratt, assists to Mike Wiseman and Trevor Weisflock. The score at the end of the second 1-0 for Port. The third period brought some nice work by Mike Milli- gan with several attempts at scoring. Excellent defense by Lyler Houthouys and Mike Dal- y. At 9:58 of the third period Pineridge found the target with a sizzling shot from Mike Le- Fort assisted by Gerrard Tim- mers and John Burnett. Lind- say didn't like the 2-0 lead Port had and got the next two goals with less than one minute be- tween them. But not without some rough stuff and Port got to take a penalty shot against Lindsay. Michael Wiseman skated in but was unsuccessful in his attempt. Good try Mike! The final score was 2-2. Saturday we travelled to Ux- bridge to play a team that we were evenly matched with and we saw lots of end to end see- saw action. The first goal of the game didn't arrive until 8:21 of the third period with Uxbridge taking the lead and shortly af- ter that they rallied for the sec- ond goal. This didn't keep Pine- ridge down though, minutes later Ian Garnett dazzled the Uxbridge goalie with an unas- sisted goal. This game ended with Uxbridge out in front 2-1. Matthew McGarry's line with Mike Milligan and Ryan Has- lam had a strong game coming very close to scoring many times. Keep up the good work guys, it's still early in the year and a win is just around the cor- ner for us.
