34 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 2,1993 ~~ Welcome back Welcome Wagon And a very warm welcome to Vicki Sanderson and her family who have recently moved to Port Perry. Vicki is our new Welcome Wagon representative for Scugog and is energetically seeking new residents, brides- to-be and families with new- born babies so she may call upon you with personal greet- ings and gifts from the commu- nity businesses she represents. According to Vicki, "Welcome Wagon is a successful Canadian organization that has been in existence for over 60 years. I'm excited to be a part of this or- ganization, particularly in the Port Perry area. Everyone I've met has been very friendly and community-oriented. Welcome Wagon can really help newcom- ers find their way around and, by recommending businesses and services to them, I help to make people feel more "at home." Businesses benefit too from betoming Welcome Wagon sponsors as it's an inexpensive way to advertise to a selective group. "In all my years of sales experience with IBM and other large office equipment compa- nies, I've learned that customer service and follow-up are two of the most important elements in a successtul working relation- ship," says Vicki. "I encourage all businesses in the area to give usatry." Vicki Sanderson There is no obligation with a Welcome Wagon visit. So if you are a new resident, plan on get- ting married, just had a new baby or would like to become a business sponsor, please call Welcome Wagon in Port Perry at 985-4092. Hospital Auxiliary By Luella Graham The October meeting of the Port Perry Community Hospi- tal Ladies Auxiliary was held Oct. 18 with 24 members and three visitors present. The president opened the meeting with all repeating the Auxiliary Prayer and then she welcomed all and pleased to see a good turn out. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary and approved. All other officers gave their reports. The hall bazaar held on Oct. 2 was a great success and the aux- iliary thanks each and all who helped in any way to make it such a success. Mr. Brown spoke to us and told us the expansion is coming along nicely and told us of a list of things that would be needed in the new expansion. Under new business, the resident asked, should we ave the bazaar in the spring or fall. A motion was then made by Ilean Pugh that we have a fall bazaar. Motion carried. Pat Taylor told us that since last April until now 50 boys and 58 girls were born in the hospi- tal. Our Christmas bake sale and draw will be held on Dec. 3. More bags for the Tuck Shop are being made at Hammies Place on Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. She would be pleased to have anyone come to help. On Nov. 12 a discount sale of articles with 20 per cent off is being held at the hospital from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. A good time to buy some Christmas gifts. At this time the auxiliary de- cided to purchase an Interferen- tial Therapy machine which is $6,500 and a foot whirlpool for physiotherapy, $3,600. As there was no further busi- | ness, Luella made a motion that we retire, this being followed with a friendly cup of coffee and cookies.
