EE TT a Cn | A VT TT "A Family Tradition for 127 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 9,1993 - 15 9-1-1 duplication Letters to the editor to be looked at A public meeting to be held later this month will clear up duplication in the township, Scugog's clerk says. Earl Cuddie, clerk/ administrator for the Township of Scugog, said the public meet- ing scheduled for November 156 will amend and clarify past by- laws to correct spelling, num- bering and road name inconsis- tencies. When the 9-1-1 emergency system was introduced a few years ago, a number of road- ways in the township under- went name changes. This has caused problems and confusion in the community. Examples of this include Re- gional Road 2 which is known by a multitude of names including Simcoe Street, Regional Road 2, Oshawa Road, Seagrave Road and Lilla Street. Other examples include Mary Street in which there were four in the township, Queen Street in which there were two and a number of other duplications. "We're going to bring the zon- ing bylaw to conformity with the legal street name," he said. Mr. Cuddie said it was largely a housekeeping item to bring the bylaws up-to-date. He did 'not expect any public objection. A similar id vn meeting will also study the implementation of a bylaw concerning satellite dishes. The township has not yet introduced a bylaw concern- ing the dishes but feels it is time to do so noting the growing pop- ularity of these communica- tions devices in the rural areas. This meeting will consider the appropriate location and size of satellite dishes for resi- dential areas. Mr. Cuddie said there have been no complaints lodged con- cerning satellite dishes in the township, but he has been in contact with experts who pre- dict they will become increas- ingly popular in the upcoming years as the efficiency of the dishes improves and the cost to operate one decreases. PortPerty BULK To the Editor: Rebuttal to Brandi Board- man re: last week's Port Perry Star Tuesday's paper. I am proud of the Port Perry Star giving you the right to crit- icize Brandi and my right to is- sue a rebuttal. Number 1 - I ask you to read Mabel's column of this paper, dates as follows, all in 1993: Feb. 23, Mar. 9, Mar. 16, Apr. 6, Apr. 20, May 4, May 8, May 26, June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6, July 13, Sept. 14, Sept. 21, and you will find I have done nothing but praise you and your organization. Number 2 - I am the only one who attends the Hall Board meetings who has stood up for your organization. I still believe our teenagers belong in our Hall and not down the street. However, I know what it's like being in business for some 45 years, having a bad day at the office and returning home which should be a haven away from confusion, only to hear the phone start ringing. This was always more prevalent when I was extremely busy and started néw men. This is what the prin- cipal of the Hall Board had to contend with. Number 3 - I do not believe I said they were teenagers. Be- cause a person is living at home doesn't make him a teenager. I myself left home at 19 to serve my country, returning at 22, and lived in my father's house until I married at age 26. Number 4 - I untangled the swings and the very next day, I caught two.lads about 10.years of age with one swing up over the bar and doing their best to get the other two up there. Number 5 - Corinne Woods states the two youth which she though were girls were at the base of the basketball nets and she was distracted for two min- utes and on her return she saw the net ring hanging off the bas- ketball unit and the two walk- ing down Putsey Drive. There was no one else around. Number 6 - Last year the ones who damaged the baseball screen were no 110 to 120 1b. in- dividuals, they had to be husky. Number 7 - If you have fol- lowed my work in the village, I am sure you will agree my only desire is to help where I can to make Caesarea the number one place in Scugog in which to live. Note my participation in: the park equipment where your or- ganization gave superior sup- port, the sign on Main Street, improvement to the Hall, base- ball games Firefighters vs Po- lice, fireworks in which you - helped me, yard sale. I also re- mind you of the two people of C.Y.C. who worked a good six hours in 10 degree weather last winter to build a shed for the winter carnival, with me. I see a definite change to the better- ment in our village as more peo- ple are becoming involved. Thank you for your letter, it keeps me on my toes. And best wishes to your organization, may you continue to do the good work you have been doing. When you need my support, don't hesitate to call. Yours sincerely, Albert E.
