Port didn't come out flying, as the coaching staff wished, but luckily, neither did the opposition. Due to absences we were carrying two affiliated players, Seth Gray and Scott Jeffrey, who were called up from the Pee Wee Legionaires. Both played excellent games. Port Perry opened up the scoring in this game with 1:55 left to play in the second period. Adam Hunter scored with as- sists going to Tim Fitzpatrick, and A.P. Seth Gray. One goal was all that we had in us on this night. Port Hope scored two third period goals to move ahead, and win 2-1. Nov. 1 saw the Belleville Balls take on the Country Style Donuts team at the Scugog Are- na. It seemed as though we didn't come to play for much of this game as we were on the short end of the stick losing 9-0. We tried to put this game be- hind us, as we geared up for an away game against our rivals from Uxbridge. The ugly yellow and green opened up the scor- ing with 9:49 left to play in the second period of play. The Ux- bridge Bruins then scored again with 6:07 left in the second peri- 'high after win od. We then decided that it was time to play. Adam Smith showed some hustle going to the net after the Uxbridge goalie made the save. Adam poked the goaltenders glove sending the puck into the net. Tom Cham- bers picked up the assist on Smitty's goal. Uxbridge added one more before second period was over, scoring with 2:02 left before the intermission. Going into the third, it was Uxbridge 3,Port 1. The coaching staff's pep talk in between periods, Hilly's pres- ence, and of course, Lee's jacket lifted Port Perry great heights in the third period. Rob Murphy lit up the board first, 40 seconds into the final period. Adam Smith then scored his second goal of the game, picking up a rebound in front of the net, and firing it home. Again, Adam was assisted by Tom Chambers. It was all tied at 3, when Mike Morden scored, assisted by Adam Hunter. This was a big win for us, sending our spirits soaring. Up- coming home action for the Country Style Donut Bantams includes a game against Port Hope on Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. A special thanks goes to Ken Car- ruthers, and the Country Style for the juice. MoJacks move into second after undefeated week By Shawn Bastarache Prior to the start of the 1993- 94 Ontario Junior C regular season, Port Perry ModJacks' head coach Brad Menzies said that his team was bigger and stronger than the 1992 version. Now, almost a third of the way through a thirty-game schedule, it's becoming evident that Menzies was right. It's also becoming evident that a bigger, stronger club can pay dividends at this level, much like it did Sunday night when the MoJacks hosted the Bobcaygeon Bullets at Scugog arena, downing the visitors 5-1. Port Perry had beaten the Bullets - a noticeably smaller club - two nights earlier in Bob- caygeon by a 6-3 count and were hoping to sweep the mini-series with a win on home ice. Menzies and his club no doubt welcomed the thought of home ice, coming off a road swing, that saw them play four games in one week. The Bullets threatened to spoil the homecoming when Ryan Po pounced on a re- bound only 28 seconds into the game and beat ModJacks' net- minder Shawn Larocque to give the visitors an early lead.
