"A Family Tradition for 127 Years" | | | The first game of the Peewee House League last Saturday was between Big V and Emiel's. This game would determine who would take over first place in the standings. There was no scoring in the first period as Ryan Fraser for Big V and Jon Chambers for Emiel's made some great saves in the nets. Wade Ritchie got things started for the Big V team as he banged away at the puck in front of the net to score unas- sisted. Chris Orr scored on a pass from Alex Wordley, then Alex and Chris set up Ken Ellis who one-timed it into the net. Wade made a nice pass to Steve Martin in front of the net to score with Ryan Hawkins pick- ing up the other assist on this one. Emiel's finnaly got on the scoreboard late in the third on a picture-perfect pass by David Bonser to Tim Wray who put it between the goaltender's legs. Big V would not give up and scored another goal with less than a minute to go. Goaltender Ryan Fraser dumped the puck into the corner to Jericoh Baron who passed it up to Alex to put it into the net. Jordan McKay played well in front of the net for Big V, apoil- ing some possible scoring chances and Nick Ostafichuk also played well on defence as he made some great passes to clear the puck out of the zone. Emiel's had strong games from Sean Fletcher who gets the Best Hustler award and Chad Lance who did well digging the puck Public skating extended Public skating at the Scugog Arena has been expanded. The program is now offered Thurs- day afternoons, 1-2 p.m. The cost is $2/adult. A $20 season pass is also available. Public skating also runs every Sunday, 3-4:15p.m. Shinney hockey runs every Monday and Wednesday morn- ing from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. This is ideal for shift workers or any- one wishing to participate in some great pick-up hockey. The cost is $3.50/person or $30 sea- son pass. For those interested in late night rentals, the arena cur- rently offers a Saturday night 11 p.m. to midnight slot and Sunday night from 11:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Please call 985-8698 for more information. 8-Ball league Uxbridge Stingers defeated the Port Perry Screaming Ea- les in a close game 119 to 114. t went right down to the last game to decide this one. Tom Boyd played very well on defence, stifling a few scoring opportunities in front of the net. The second game of the day was between Scala and La- rocque and this game was full of great end-to-end rushes by both teams. Scott Cunningham had a hat trick as well as picking up two assists for the Scala team. Tyler Wootton picked up two goals and an assist while Troy Hazleton picked up the other goal for the green machine. Tom Baker, Murphy Irvine, Jeremy Hall and Jeremy Pare picked up the other assists. John Ba- con played well on forward as he led many rushes and made some excellent passes. Russell Brown gets the Good Hustler award for the Scala team. The defensive core of the two Jeremys and Matt Caldwell and Murphy Irvine played very well and stopped some good Peewee house league action shots 1n tront ot the goaltender Chris Thompson. Chris played very well in net, stopping the close range shots that were fired at him by Greg Bruton and Joel Phoenix of the La- rocque team. Peter McKitterick scored on a nice pass from Greg Bruton for the Larocque boys to get things started for them. Greg then scored from Peter and David Crouter. Other goals for the Larocque team went to Adam Brain from Ben Stephen- son and Gerard Painter and to Joel Phoenix who scored unas- sisted. John Sanders played very well for the Larocque team and the Good Hustler award goes to Ben Stephenson for his strong performance. Jamie Clarke played goal for the first time and did a very fine job. He stumped Tyler Wootton on a sure goal early in the game to let everyone know he was seri- ous about doing a good job. Fi- nal score of this close one was 6- 4 for Scala. Tyler Webb in net for Van Camp made many terrific saves. Goal scor- ers for Re/Max were Stuart Co- chrane and Devon" Ferguson. Port Perry Printers goal scorers were: Derek Bond with a hat trick, Pat Lewis with four goals and two assists, Jonathan Breen, Ryan May, Devon How- sam and Collin Holditch each with a goal. Assists were credit- ed to Ryan May, Greg Hunter, Gary Garratt, Luke Pilkey and Collin Holditch. Mark Lott was the netminder for the Printers. The lone goal for Haugens was scored by Travis Black, with the assist going to Justin Shinn.
