They met up with their league rivals from Uxbridge and came out with a solid win of 7-1. Shane Norton were in great form tonight and netted himself a hat trick. Assists were credited to Todd Parry (two), Matt Blowe (two), and singles to Dan Robinson, Mike Heasman, Brad Shanley, Aaron Levy, Bob Cracknell and goalie John Babcock. We welcomed back Trevor Smith to our team after suffer- ing from an injury during team tryouts and Mike Heasman who suffered an injury the last time we met up with this Uxbridge team. On Sunday, Nov. 7 we met up with the team from Lindsay and were on the losing end of an 8-2 game. The goals for this game were scored by Matt Phillips and Brad Shanley and assisting on their goals were Gavin Bax- ter, Bob Cracknell, Dan Robin- son and Brad Shanley. On Tuesday we travelled to Oshawa for an exhibition game against the LNHL Bruins and found ourselves in a tough 5-4 match. Aaron Levy started the scoring with only 15 seconds left in the first period with the as- sist from Todd Parry and Shane Norton. But unfortunately only seconds later Oshawa tied up the game. In the second period again we were able to get the go ahead goal with a good effort by Shane Norton who scored after picking up his own rebound. However the Bruins fought back with an- other goal to tie the match. John - Babcock was in net and made some great glove saves but was not able to hold the Bruins down from scoring twice more in the second period. Early in the third period the line of Norton, Parry and Levy were again able to bring the score closer when Todd Parry won the face off, passed it to Levy, who then hit the stick of FE -- ORT PERRY auto glass & trim 1d, Norton who was breaking loose to go in and pick the top corner of the Oshawa net. The Techstars thought they might tie this one up. But min- utes later Oshawa got their in- surance marker and even though Matt Phillips scored a great backhand shot with four seconds in the game, we found ourselves on the losing end. As- sists on the final goal were by Mike Heasman and Aaron Levy. On Wednesday night we were on home ice facing another Oshawa LNHL Canadians team and tonight was to be our victory. We wasted no time in chalking up the first goal with a backhand shot by Gavin Baxter after picking up a rebound shot by Robert Gracie. Ryan Puckrin found the market while stand- ing in the slot waiting for a pass to come from Gavin Baxter. The first period scoring was finished off when Matt Phillips scrambled in front of the net to score on shots made by Brad Shanley and Dan Robinson. Port was on a roll and it just kept going in the second period when Shane Norton scored his first of four goals for the game after deking the goalie on a passing play from Todd Parry and Ashley Van Schelven. Ryan Puckrin scored high on the Oshawa netminder after pick- ing up a pass from linemates Gavin Baxter and Matt Blowe. Shane Norton again scored after re-directing a shot from Trevor Smith at the point. Ash- ley Van Schelven assisted on this goal. Puckrin scored his second of the game when the Canadians deflected the puck into their own net. Assisting on this goal was Trevor Smith and Robert Gracie. The line of Puckrin, Blowe and Baxter were hot tonight as Gavin made a smooth pass to Puckrin who caught Ryanin the open and Matt Blowe went in to score with the high wrist shot. Shane Norton ending our scoring after Matt Phillips let a hard slap shot go from the point and Shane helped it into the net. Matt Blowe also collected an assist on this goal. The team was feeling pretty good after this game and were certainly up for the Mariposa tournament that they were go- ing into on the weekend. Their first game saw them pitted against the No. One team from Uxbridge and the parents were sure we were going to have our hands full with this rival. The first period was hard fast hockey by both teams, but our boys wouldn't let Uxbridge get the edge and in the second peri- od at the 9:55 marker Shane Norton was able to put us on the board when his linemate Todd Parry won the faceoff, kicked the puck behind his opponent at centre ice to Ashley Van Schel- ven who set a perfect pass to Norton who was waiting to break out. Norton found the open top corner to score the only goal of the game for either teams. All the boys gave 100 per cent in this game and netminder Ja- mie Trick had to come up with some great saves to keep the Uxbridge team from scoring. Our next matchup saw us up against the team from Ennis- more and again our boys were playing a solid game of hockey but this time they were not able to get past the Ennismore net- minder to score any goals. The final score was 2-0. Atom house league action Scugog Lumber battled Lau- rentian Bank to a 4-2 win Sat- urday in the Atom House League. The game was a very close affair featuring excellent goaltending by Shane Fisher of Scugog Lumber and John Bar- ton of Laurentian Bank. Darryl Knight and Jamie McQuaid played a strong game on the point for Scugog while forward Tom MacArthur and Raymond Seager created many good scor- ing chances for Laurentian. Glen Thompson led the way for the winners with a hat trick and Adam Douglas netted a single. David Halward scored both goals for Laurentian. Good luck next week, boys. 'I'ne final game on Sunday was for the "C" championship against Brantford's "A" team. This was a fast moving hard fought match. The first period ended with Brantford scoring a goal with only a minute and a halfleft and goaltender Jamie Trick had to keep on his toes to make some great saves to avoid the score being any higher. In the second period again al- though our boys had many great chances and especially Matt Phillips who had two solid shots on net but we were not able to beat the Brantford goal- tender. Both teams played well. The game featured end-to-end rush- es. It remained scoreless until the last two minutes of the sec- ond period. Kenton LeFort tied up the Fenelon player in our corner, allowing Brett Lawson to pick up the loose puck. Brett played the puck to Matt Hobbs at centre ice.
