Marguerite Brock passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 1993 at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry, at age 87. Marguerite was the daughter of the late Zula (nee Tonkin) and George Jackson, she was born on March 19, 1906 in Port Perry. She attended Port Perry Pub- lic School and Ontario Ladies College (Trafalgar School) in Whitby. Mar actress, she played a number of roles at Ontario Ladies College as a girl and could have gone on - but this was not popular with her family in the 1920s. She be- came a Registered Nurse at Sick Children's Hospital in To- ronto and though she never nursed as a profession she used her training all her life in help- ing neighbors, giving needles and medicine, and changing bandages, etc. On September 1, 1930 Mar- guerite married Arthur W. Brock, in the Port Perry United Church. Together they had two children William and Georgia. When she attended Ontario La- dies College one of her courses was Home Economics and she became a terrific cook, which with her nursing contributed to her excellence as a wife and mother. The Jackson family was mu- sical. Marguerite loved to sing in the Port Perry United Church Choir, and more recent- ly at the Nursing Home where she was known for her singing. She was also involved and held erite was a born office with the Port Perry Unit- ed Church Women's Missionary Society, Women's Auxiliary and the IODE - Imperial Order, Daughters of the Empire. When there was a job to be done to help others, Marguerite was always there, knitting for the servicemen during the war, cooking and kitchen work at church functions, cleaning and organizing displays, and guid- ing tours at the museum. Marguerite is survived by her son Bill and his wife Claudette 'and her daughter Georgia, her . grandchildren : Marina, i Mi- chael, Peter and Juliana Brock and Sophia Brendon, her sister Patricia Love. She was prede- ceased by her husband Arthur Brock, her parents George and Zula Jackson, her brothers Ted and Dr. Harold Jackson, and her sister Myrtle Rennie. A funeral service was held in the McDermott-Panabaker Chapel of the Wagg Funeral Home in Port Perry on Satur- day, October 16 with Rev. Rob- ert LePage officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Prince Albert. Pallbearers were Michael, Peter, David and John Paul Brock, Douglas Young and Ross Sedgewick. Marguerite loved people and although she had many person- al friends, her greatest satisfac- tion came from people she got to know and was able to help. Her love was returned and many of those at her funeral were among the number whose lives she had touched.
