"A Family Tradition for 127 Years" Manvers Tweens | On Thursday, Nov. 18, the Manvers Maltheb Farms Tweens played host to Bobcay- geon. Manvers came out fast in the opening period kind of sur- prising the small Bobcaygeon team a bit and making them take a step or two backwards al- lowing the Farmers a chance to free-wheel a bit. It didn't take long for Man- vers to light up the scoreboard as Lisa Nesbitt scored unassist- ed at 13:30. Less than a minute later the Boomer, Ashley No- tenboom scored to give Manvers a 2-0 lead assisted by Julie Ken- nedy. At 11:26 Julie Kennedy scored unassisted. Krista Cameron scored at 9:40. At 7:41 Hoppy Chapman (Alison) scored assisted by Krista Came- ron and Alison Chapman scored again from Krista Cameron at 6:13 for a 6-0 lead. Bobcaygeon scored at 2:50 to get one back and make the score 6-1. Julie Kennedy scored from Amanda Richmand at 2:30 for a 7-1count. Lisa Nesbitt scored at 1:36 assisted by Krista Came- ron. Man- vers struck fast in the first peri- od when Krista Cameron at 12:13. The action was back and forth as both. teams were mounting good rushes. At 11:16 Amanda Richmand fed Ashley Notenboom, the Boomer in the slot, over to Julie Kennedy and she scores to give Manvers a 2-0 lead. Lindsay Ingram scored at 8:20 to give Manvers a three goal lead. Mariposa scored at 5:14 and 2:32 to narrow the gap to 3-2. With the period almost over and Manvers sporting a oge goal lead Alison Chapman scored with just 40 ticks left on the clock to make the score 4-2 after the first period of play. The Manvers goalie was hav- ing a good game trying to help her team stay in this tight scor- ing game. The Manvers Maltheb Farms girls cranked er up a notch to start the second period as Julie Kennedy scored at 13:12. Less than a minute later Krista Cameron scored from Alison (Hoppy) Chapman scored to in- crease the Manvers lead to 6-2. Mariposa scored atl0:38 to make the score 6-3. Manvers turned up the heat and said "see you later" as Julie Kennedy scored at 9:21 from Ashley No- tenboom. Krista Cameron scored at 6:53 to make the score 8-3. Julie Kennedy scored her fourth goal of the game. With the second period winding down, Tammy Timbers put a nice pass over to Julie Kennedy in the slot, over to Amanda ~ Richmand and she scored on the Mariposa goaltender. With 15 seconds left in the game, Krista Cameron scored her fourth goal of the game to make the final score Manvers Maltheb Farms 11 - Mariposa 3. With Miranda Small out of the lineup the rookie defenseman Tiffany Timbers stepped in and did a pretty good job. When Miranda Small is in the Manvers lineup the Man- vers defense is one of the strong- estin the league. Playing in goal for Manvers and sweating bullets was Mi- chele Branton. Nice game girls keep up the good work!! Monsma moves into first The Framer's Gallery blanked Emmerson Insurance 3-0 in game one of the local league on Sunday. Both these teams have struggled so far this season and the wins are few and far between. B. Rainey opened up the scor- ing from K. Smith four minutes into the opening frame for an early lead. This goal held up through the first period and it wasn't until early inthe second that the Framer's padded their lead. The last two markers went to K. Dalton and S. Blyth. Drawing assists were E. and S. Kristensen with a pair each. Be- tween the pipes for the shutout was G. Archibald. Game two saw the battle for first as Monsma Electric and Woody's Auctions have been neck and neck to this point. Woody's drew first blood in the opening period when R. Sulli- van set up T. Powell at the 2:31 mark. Monsma got it together in the second half as they killed off four minutes short handed and then proceeded to tie the game on a shot from Nick Atwood aid- ed by K. Ibbitson and R. Mitch- ell. They rattled off two more from C. Lepine and J. Mason to salt a 3-1 victory. Additional as- sists went to G. Lepine on his brother's goals. The final of the day saw the Blackstock Brewers and B&R Swamp play to a 3-3 draw. Twice in the first Blackstock went ahead only to see B&R tie it up. The Brewers' first two goals went to S. MacLennan and T. Wotten with R. Short getting credit for an assist. The Swampers answered with goals by J. Harman from M. Mitchell, and Mitchell from M. Butt, this one coming with 39 seconds left in the first. Late in the second, B&R pulled ahead when Butt put one in from M. Mole and Harman. Blackstock's J. Hunter got the final tally with just seven tenths of a second remaining. The Cartwright Dynos hosted 'a snowmobile driver training course at the Nestieton Hall on Saturday, Nov. 20. The course Is a prerequisite for those who want to get their snowmo- bile drivers licence. Attending the course were (seated) Collin Richardson, (from left) Tabi- tha Cochrane, Brad Martyn, Kristy Martyn, and instructor Keith Brown. Another Snowmo- bile driver training course will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11. Whitby opened the scoring ear- lyin the first. NE ~ Port's strong defence, consist- ing of veterans Cathy Cooper and Jennifer Imrie, plus two eat newcomers in Dianna 3urnett and Giselle Codd, who are backstopped by quick-as- lightening goalie, Jennifer Hammond, held Whitby score- less for the remainder of the pe- riod. With 5:44 remaining in the first Jennifer Donnelley scored on a blistering backhand shot, assists going to Dianna Burnett and Leanne Holt. Port came out flying in the- second and their hard work paid off when Jenifer Donnelley fed a neat pass to Leanne Holt who scored on a hard wrist shot. The game then settled into a seesaw battle. First:year girls: Mary Justynski, Jackie Smith and Amelie Leveille 'skated hard every shift. Close checking by "old timers" Melissa Hooker and Lisa LeFort gave the oppo- sition the shakes. Unfortunate- ly, Whitby scored three unan- swered goals late in the second to win 4-2. : On: Sunday, port hosted Pick- ering. With Port's goalie Jenni- fer Hammond feeling under the weather, our coach, Lisa Coop- er, dipped into the talented Pe- tite "A" team. Jill Pashley, play- ing her first Tween game, was ~§3 air of games simply awesome. Jennifer Don- nelley, scoring with her trade- mark backhand shot, notched two quick goals. Amelie Leveille assisted on the first one with a heads-up pass. Port rounded out the scoring late in the first on a great pass from Lisa Le- Fort. to Jennifer Imrie who deked out the goalie and scored. Pickering got one back early in the second period. Port came right back when Jennifer Imrie scored her second of the game, assists going to: Melissa Hooker and Amelie Leveille. Melissa Hooker put Port up 5-1 with an second. Earlier in the week, Port lost 7-4 at home to a strong Peterbo- rough squad (details not availa- ble). On Nov. 19, Techstars played the Whitby selects team in an exhibition game. Whitby came on strong in the first period with three goals to our one, scored by Ryan Puckrin on a clean pass from Gavin Baxter. The second period saw Port and Peterborough trade goals with Todd Parry tapping one home to close the gap. With only seconds into the third period, the game turned around when Ashley VanShel- ven scored on the set-up from Todd Parry and Matt Baxter cutting the deficit by one. At the 10:16 mark, Gavin Baxter tucked one in the net with Shane Norton and Matt Baxter assisting on the play to end the game in a 4-4 tie. On Saturday, Nov. 20, Port Perry Techstars were up against Peterborough for the second time in a week. Port got off to a slow start in the first, al- lowing five goals. Midway into the second peni- od Port came alive, holding Pe- terborough to their five goal lead. Port showed good effort in the third but couldn't connect with the mesh. Peterborough was able to score one more before the game ended 6-0. Laurentian wins Laurentian Bank triumphed over the Lions Club 5-1in Atom House League action on Satur- day. Leading the way for a very determined Laurentian team was Clayton Dales. Clayton played an excellent game in th ends of the rink and his ef- fort paid off with two assists. The Banker's scoring was spread out among many players in this game with Mathew Smart, Tom MacArthur, Eric Bird, David Halward and Nich- olas Bronson getting goals. Gor- don Kilner and David Halward helped out the cause with one 'assisteach. i Laurentian's . defense also "should be mentioned for hold- ing Lions Club to only one goal. ring for the Lions Club was Chris Medford with Shawn Martin getting the assist. Ken- ny Lucas played a very strong game between the pipes for the Lions Club, stopping many good scoring opportunities. : Atom house league action Whitby Auto Wreckers and Scugog Lumber hooked up for a defensive battle that produced outstanding goal tending by Patrick Dearnne of Whitby and $ amie McQuaid of Scugog Lum- er. Whitby Auto Wreckers pre- vailed 3-0, but required two late goals in the third period to pre- serve a one goal lead. Beau Jolicoeur scored on a breakaway with 1:15 left in the second to give Whitby the lead. Darren Royle scored both late goals in the third with assists to bbie Taylor and Jeff Danilke. Excellent defensive work by Cameron Vernest, Mark Rich- ardson, John-Ross Lennox and Robbie Taylor kept Whitby in he game as Scugog pressed ear- y. Jeff Kane and Mike Koury rovided solid support on de- ense for the side. Our thanks to the boys for an entertaining game.
