Province introduces its one-day fishing licence Natural Resources Minister Howard Hampton recently an- nounced that he is responding to requests from Ontario's char- ter fishing boat industry by in- troducing a one-day fishing li- cence for Canadian residents. "I'm pleased to have been able to work with people from Onta- rio's tourism industry to insti- tute a one-day fishing licence that will suit the Canadian- resident anglers who only fish once a year," Mr. Hampton said. . "The charter-boat industry makes a multi-million-dollar contribution to Ontario's econo- my, and it makes sense for gov- ernment to encourage this facet of tourism in the province. MNR will make one-day sports fishing licences available T. BYERS SEPTIC & HOLDING TANK PUMPING REASONABLE RATES 985-3048 for Canadian residents in 1994. The new licence will cost $10, and as an introductory offer, that fee will include the cost of an Outdoors Card for those who don't already have one. This li- cence will be available for many charter-boat operators, as well ps regular licence-issuing out ets. : . I The Ontario Charter Boat As- sociation (OCBA) first suggest- ed the new licence. Hunting, fishing and tourism groups were consulted before the new form of licence was developed. Non-residents -- persons who reside outside of Canada -- have been able to buy one-day fishing licences this year, also at a cost of $10. This licence was-intro- duced following a lengthy re- view of all hunting and fishing licences. Charter-boat owners said during the review that one- day licences would suit their out-of-province clientele, and now the concept is being extend- ed to include all Canadian resi- dents. SEN Mr. Hampton also stated that there will be no increases to fishing and hunting licence fees in 1994. Fees will remain the same as in 1993, with the excep- tion of the small-game hunting licénce. : Forder-Parks 1 Insurance Brokers Inc.
