The Toronto Humane Society offers a few tips to keep in mind if you are planning on leaving your pet with a friend. Give your sitter a written de- scription and photo of your pet in case it gets lost or tries to find its way home. The description will help distinguish your pet from others. Include breed, col- or, sex and any other distin- guishing marks. Keep a written account of your pet's tag numbers and type of collar. Keeping track of its license number, rabies identification number and where they were purchased will help to see that your pet is returned quickly. It when leaving for holidays is also a good idea to buy a tag for your pet's collar and include your sitter's name and phone number while you are away. Remember your pet does not know its way around a strange neighborhood. Remind your sit- ter not to let your pet out on its own. ' If your pet does go missing your pet sitter should inform the local shelters and post signs in the neighborhood as soon as possible. Give your sitter the name and telephone number of your vete- rinarian and a release form for any necessary treatment should your pet become sick or injured. By taking these precautions you will ensure that you come home to a happy and healthy pet. Stop and Bakery.
